As a director, you will be responsible for leading the execution, integration, and continuous improvement of assumed reinsurance agreements and onboarding new business ventures. This position combines technical reinsurance expertise, cross-functional coordination, and strategic leadership to support the growth and operational excellence of Alternative Ventures.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate onboarding of new business types – serve as liaison with internal cross-functional teams and external parties to ensure smooth and timely transition.
This role will have a front office focus by translating complex concepts into actionable insights and drive coordination with our Operations teams and the various back-office functions to ensure smooth integration, communication and alignment.
Develop and maintain integration playbooks, timelines and work with the business to create metrics.
Lead resolution efforts on key data quality review/research analysis. Assist with supporting the data integrity and ingestion strategy to support existing and new businesses, with a focus on reinsurance related data requirements.
Drive Continuous Improvement initiatives across Alternative Ventures – refining processes, standardizing documentation and establishing consistency to enhance scalability and efficiency
Manage a team of up to 3 individuals who will be responsible for ongoing monitoring, tracking and execution of new and renewal reinsurance agreements, onboarding of new business opportunities and continuous improvement projects.
Regularly present to, consult with and counsel Nationwide officers, partner principles, and others on matters of significance impacting viability, profitability and success of the business.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to AVP of Portfolio, Development & Enablement – Alternative Ventures. Will have 1-3 direct reports.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: 10+ years of insurance industry experience, 3+ years of reinsurance related experience and experience leading a team – both direct reports and indirect reports including cross-functional teams
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Strong understanding of Property, Casualty and Professional lines of business and Risk Transfer mechanisms, familiarity with Quota Share, Excess Loss and Facultative Reinsurance agreements/relationships.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to negotiate with external parties, including other insurance carriers and brokers, to place reinsurance agreements that are in Nationwide’s best interests and align around business imperatives
Project and change management skillsets, strong attention to detail and the ability to organize, plan and align work and manage competing priorities while influencing others to support organizational change during integration. Possess strong situational adaptability and is organizationally savvy.
Ability to autonomously thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment by identifying challenges and implementing future-focused successful solutions for our internal business network. Ability to optimize and create new, repeatable processes.
