Position: Start-Up Mechanic (HVAC)
We are seeking a skilled Start-Up Mechanic to join a leading HVAC team. This role is critical to ensuring projects are completed efficiently, safely, and with the highest level of craftsmanship. The Start-Up Mechanic will work closely with the Superintendent, taking ownership of assigned tasks and overseeing helpers on the crew to ensure productivity and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and guide helpers on the crew, ensuring productivity and safety at all times.
- Serve as the main point of communication between the field crew and office.
- Demonstrate pride in workmanship and deliver projects with quality craftsmanship.
- Report any concerns, issues, or delays to the Superintendent promptly.
- Continuously grow knowledge of HVAC systems, including VRF, to assist Superintendents and other Mechanics.
- Coordinate with Superintendents and Mechanics to ensure proper installation of units, devices, and accessories.
- Complete start-up forms and return them to the Superintendent before equipment is put into operation.
- Perform start-up of equipment and confirm proper function.
- Track and manage materials on site.
- Interpret and follow construction drawings while coordinating with other contractors on the job.
- Ensure proper maintenance of company vehicles (if applicable).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience as a Mechanic or in HVAC system start-up.
- Knowledge of VRF systems strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to oversee and mentor crew members.
- Attention to detail, pride in craftsmanship, and commitment to safety.
