The Director of Employee Communications will manage a team of communication professionals responsible for leading enterprise-wide employee communication strategies The position is responsible for crafting messages that both promote and protect the corporate image through strategic communications to internal and external audiences including employees, dealers, customers, investors, the public and other key stakeholders.
The role and his/her team own, develop and implement the corporate editorial calendar for all owned internal and external channels. This includes the internal intranet site, caterpillar.com, company social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube), CEO Townhall and mass emails. The position ensures effective enterprise communications including corporate strategy, financials, corporate responsibility and customer success stories. The role partners with the HR communications team to effectively communicate Total Rewards, engagement, diversity, HR policies and procedures, and learning and development, as well as other HR functions. In addition, this position owns the succession planning of the global communicator network and all collaboration channels associated with this community.
What You Will Do:
- Provides strategic leadership to the internal employee communications strategy by developing a strategic communication plan that inspires, connects and engages.
- Leverages a global messaging framework to drive improved storytelling that reflects the enterprise strategy, highlights how it is being executed across the globe using both the written word, digital mediums and stronger visual elements to capture the audience.
- Explores new mediums and channels to inspire, engage and connect with employees; capturing metrics that measure message resonance.
- Leads with influence to connect with key stakeholders in the business to amplify stories.
What You Will Have:
- Organizational Savvy and Politics: Knowledge of organizational politics and political tactics; ability to effectively navigate formal and informal communication and decision-making channels
- Communicating Complex Concepts: Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience
- Flexibility and Adaptability: Knowledge of successful approaches and techniques for dealing with change; ability to adapt to a changing environment and be comfortable with change
- Interpersonal Relationships: Knowledge of the techniques and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner
- Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation
- Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers
- Organizational Leadership: Knowledge of leadership concepts and ability to use strategies and skills to enlist others in setting, embracing and achieving objectives
- Team Management: Knowledge of effective team building techniques; ability to form and manage effective teams
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications and/or equivalent experience

- The primary location for this position is at our Global Headquarters in Irving, Texas

Summary Pay Range:
$169,320.00 - $253,920.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
