The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.

Responsibilities
- Ensuring your personal safety, your co-worker's safety, and the customer's safety.
- Supporting various groups by providing access to work areas to include rigging, scaffolding, pick-boards, spider staging equipment, and fall protection.
- Knowledgeable of local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations for safely rigging and moving objects.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must be capable of working from written, electronic and/or verbal instructions to include blueprints, diagrams, schematics, vendor manuals and applicable specifications and codes.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain certifications, licenses, permits, etc. to operate various types of equipment to include forklifts and aerial platforms.
- Maintain logs, records, charts, etc., as required.
The candidate must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and technical training in the applicable area of expertise and three (3) years of experience. Physical Requirements• Visual and physical (hands on) contact of rigging related systems, hardware, and articles.
• Requires climbing, crawling, bending, body mobility, corrected vision, lifting, carrying, and exerting pressure up to 100 lbs.
• Must successfully pass high worker physical.
• May be required to climb stairs to access equipment for trouble shooting.
• Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection, and other associated personal protective equipment.
• Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.
• Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.
• Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.
- Capable of transporting and installing complex rigging/scaffoding systems in all KSC areas at various heights.
- Requires climbing, crawling, bending, and body mobility, corrected vision, lifting, carrying, exerting pressure up to 35 lbs. Must successfully pass high worker physical and utilize fall protection systems.
Work Environment
- All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA, OSHA, and Company safety standards.
- Work will be performed primarily in both inside and outside environments.
- Working at heights and in confined spaces is required.
- Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on site.
Equipment and Machines
- Required to don personal protective equipment (PPE) to include but not limited to hard hats, safety glasses, and safety shoes/boots.
- Use of fall protection equipment will be required
- Fork Lift and Pendant Crane operation will be required.
- Use of various hand tools will be required.
- Operate personal computers and related computer peripheral equipment (printers, scanners, copy machines, fax machines, etc.) to document work performed and job/task notes to include working in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as Maximo and Solumina.
Attendance • Full-time work hours.
• Position may require occasional overtime, including weekend work, depending on task.
• Must be dependable and punctual.
• Shift work may be required.
Other Essential Functions • Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.
• Must be able to travel to support position requirements. This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can be made for POV, if necessary.
• Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
• Must comply with all “drug free workplace” requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.
• Government security clearance may be required in the future.
• Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
