We are seeking a motivated Engineer I with a strong scientific foundation and hands-on laboratory skills to support bioprocess development activities. This role will contribute to downstream purification, process characterization, and technical troubleshooting within a collaborative, fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will bring technical curiosity, strong problem-solving abilities, and familiarity with bioprocess operations, including filtration, purification, and analytical instrumentation. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer or scientist to gain experience in bioprocess development, scale-up principles, and laboratory operations within an industry setting.
Responsibilities:
- Support downstream bioprocess purification activities, including filtration, ultrafiltration, and microfiltration processes
- Assist with laboratory-scale process characterization studies
- Apply technical understanding of bioprocess scale-up and downstream purification principles
- Perform wet chemistry laboratory tasks such as pipetting, buffer preparation, dilutions, filtration, and stoichiometric calculations
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, data management, and chemical inventory documentation
- Assist in troubleshooting experimental and equipment-related issues
- Support method development and method transfer activities
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional team members and contribute to data interpretation and presentations
- Work comfortably in a lab environment and follow established laboratory procedures
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or related field (strongly preferred)
Experience:
- Experience with adjuvant or LNP processing is a plus
- Experience with tangential flow filtration (microfiltration/ultrafiltration)
- Understanding of downstream bioprocess purification and operations for complex molecules
- Knowledge of bioprocess scaling principles
- Wet chemistry laboratory experience
- Technical writing proficiency, including laboratory notebooks and data documentation
- Strong collaborative skills and ability to solve technical problems
- Experience with analytical instrumentation (e.g., plate readers, densitometers, thermocyclers, cIEF, UV/Vis, HPLC/UPLC) preferred
- Experience conducting lab-scale process characterization studies preferred
- Experience in GMP or GLP environments preferred
- Experience troubleshooting experimental or equipment-related issues preferred
