Job Title: Mechanical Teams Co-Ordinator
Salary: £30,206 - £37,000 per annum depending upon experience
Location: Peterborough, UK
Working Hours: 37hrs per week, Monday – Thursday 08:00 – 16:30, Friday 08:00 – 13:00.
Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L Cat® and Perkins engines that power over 5000 applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. What is Test Facilities & Engineering (TF&E)
The TF&E mechanical maintenance team provides expert technical support to the state of the art engine test facility, ensuring quality data output. They are responsible for manufacturing, implementing, and upgrading test facility support systems and rigs to assist in engine development and verification. The team also commissions the multi million pound engine test facility, which boasts world class performance, emissions, and mechanical validation capabilities. Team members interact with the wider facilities team and other departments within GED and the Industrial Power Systems Development Engineers.
The successful candidate will support the mechanical technician team in delivering efficient, high quality work in their day to day operations. They will assist with maintenance scheduling, support installations and commissioning activities and help ensure smooth daily operations. The role requires excellent organisational skills, communication, decision making and a proactive approach to team coordination and problem solving.
In daily operations, the coordinator will demonstrate leadership under pressure, communicate effectively, manage priorities and contribute to achieving facility targets.
Govern and delegate and drive velocity in day-to-day team activities, including task assignment, breakdown support, project work, and quality management, using work order management systems aligned with business priorities.
Good understanding of maintenance processes, tools, equipment, and familiarity with operational and quality objectives.
Strong leadership attributes, including excellent organisation, communication, problem solving, coordination and prioritising skills.
Candidates may have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:
Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing or product development environment.
