Job Description:
The selected candidate will be a key team member within the Drivetrain India team, responsible for the design and development of transmission system and components for global New Product Introduction (NPI), New Source Introduction (NSI) and Current Product Improvement (CPI) programs. The role demands adherence to Caterpillar’s product development processes and close collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrated expertise in the design and development of Transmission system and subsystems, including planetary gear sets, counter shafts, Torque converter, Pump Group and Output/Input Transfer box.
- Proficient in designing transmission components such as clutch housings, gears, hub splines, shafts, planet carrier, Etc.
- Strong understanding of drivetrain interface systems including torque converters, control valves, cooling systems, and pumps.
- Solid manufacturing knowledge with the ability to work effectively with suppliers, manufacturing, product support, and quality teams to resolve issues.
- Capable of technical communication with global process partners on a regular basis.
- Skilled in data gathering, synthesis, and analysis to identify failure modes and drive design improvements.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship within the team and to supporting organizations.
Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or Automobile Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Candidates should have 6 to 9 years of relevant experience and a proven ability to handle complex engineering assignments.
Required Experience and Skills:
- Strong knowledge in the design/simulation of Transmission system.
- Advanced proficiency in Creo modelling and simulation.
- Good understanding of general engineering practices and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

- Office Model: This position requires the employee to work a 5-day-a-week schedule in the office.
