Overview
ABM is currently seeking to hire a Director of Licensing based in the Cumming, GA area. The Director of Licensing will be responsible for managing and ensuring the company’s compliance with all federal, state, and local licensing, registration, and certification requirements across its facility services and technical solutions business lines. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Chief Compliance Officer & Deputy General Counsel, this leader will oversee the company’s enterprise licensing compliance program, manage licensing systems and data governance, and ensure operational readiness in every jurisdiction where the company operates.
This position will serve as ABM’s central authority on licensing execution and compliance integrity, working closely with Legal, Compliance, Operations, Risk/Safety, and Sales to mitigate regulatory and operational risks while enabling business growth
Essential Functions:
• Oversee the acquisition, renewal, and maintenance of all company, branch, and entity-level trade licenses across jurisdictions in the U.S.
• Assist in development and continuous improvement of enterprise licensing management program/system, ensuring accurate tracking, timely renewals, and audit readiness. Program to include development of team of licensing coordinators, analysts, and regional licensing specialists/champions.
• Serve as ABM’s primary point of contact for state and municipal licensing authorities, resolving issues, audits, and enforcement actions as needed.
• Support M&A integration, new market entry, and business development activities by confirming licensing readiness and eligibility.
• Monitor changes to state and local laws affecting trade and business licenses and communicate key updates to stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain internal policies, procedures, and guidance to ensure consistent licensing compliance across all business lines.
• Partner with Compliance and Legal to identify and mitigate risks related to licensing lapses or enforcement exposure.
• Prepare licensing compliance reports and metrics for senior leadership.
• Ensure immediate remediation of any licensing deficiencies to prevent business disruption.
• Collaborate with Operations, Legal, Risk/Safety, and Sales to ensure licensing requirements are met for all bids, proposals, and ongoing contracts.
• Advise operational leaders and business development teams on licensing strategy for new service offerings or expansions.
• Review subcontractor and vendor licensing to ensure third-party compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations.
• Serve as license qualifier if/where needed, as applicable, to support business needs.
• Provide training, resources, and guidance to operational leaders on licensing processes and compliance best practices.
Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
• 8–12 years of progressive experience in licensing, compliance, or regulatory affairs within facility services, construction, or technical trades industries.
• Strong understanding of multistate trade and business licensing frameworks.
• Familiarity with environmental, safety, and building code regulations.
• Experience implementing and managing enterprise compliance or license tracking systems/programs.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage at all organizational levels.
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage complex workloads, and meet critical deadlines.
• Must be a team player and collaborator with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with internal clients and colleagues.
Qualifications –Licenses
- Trade-license (s) highly preferred
Other Qualifications:
• Proficient in MS Office 365 including MS Teams and SharePoint
• Proficiency in Generative AI Tools
Pay Range: 165K-175K
The pay listed is the salary range for this position. Any specific offer will vary based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data. You may be eligible to participate in a Company incentive or bonus program.
