Prudential is seeking a new Director of Email & Marketing Automation to serve as a strategic leader responsible for evolving Prudential’s email and automation capabilities into an enterprise growth driver. This role will sit in the newly formed Growth & Channel Activation team which manages the value chain across our owned channels and Mar-Tech investments. The role combines setting strategic vision, thought leadership and cross-functional influence with operational excellence, resource optimization and talent development. The Director will define how email and automation deliver measurable impact at scale aligning with business priorities, customer experience goals and enterprise transformation initiatives.
This role requires a leader who can balance strategy and execution: shaping enterprise operating models, optimizing the mix of in-house, outsourced, and offshore resources and serve to champion change management to enable new ways of working across marketing, technology, and business partners. Success in this role will look like:

What you can expect:
Strategic Leadership
- Partner with business units, technology teams and data partners to embed automation capabilities and “the realm of the possible” into integrated marketing and customer journeys.
- Define and own the enterprise-wide strategy for email and marketing automation, positioning it as a critical driver of growth, personalization and lifecycle marketing.
- Serve as a thought leader and trusted advisor on how automation can create measurable impact, accelerate speed to market and enhance customer engagement.
- Stay abreast of, bring and apply external perspectives on best practices, user experiences, data science, AI and other innovations to ensure Prudential remains a leader in modern marketing.
- Define strategic requirements with technical partners to ensure email channel needs are met across data management, consent and other systems integrations.
Operating Model & Resource Optimization
- Evaluate and optimize resource mix to deliver efficiency, scale, quality and innovation for the function.
- Manage a team of email & lifecycle marketers who will drive the email strategy & execution for our business units.
- Define operating models, governance and workflows that balance time-to-market velocity, quality, compliance and risk management.
- Establish a center of excellence mindset, setting enterprise standards while enabling flexibility for business unit needs.
Change Management & Enterprise Enablement
- Lead change management initiatives to elevate the role of email and automation across the enterprise.
- Develop and foster communities of practice that connect marketers across business units, enabling knowledge sharing, innovation and alignment to enterprise standards.
- Define the appropriate levels of proficiency in the email and marketing automation discipline including skillset benchmarks, career paths and structured training approaches to grow expertise across the organization.
Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Define success metrics and performance systems that highlight measurable value, impact on growth, engagement and efficiency.
- Drive a culture of test-and-learn experimentation, continuous optimization and knowledge sharing.
- Ensure robust reporting and transparency for stakeholders across business, marketing and technology.
What you'll need:
- 10+ years of progressive marketing experience, including at least 5 years in email and marketing automation leadership.
- Demonstrated success in building and scaling automation capabilities in large, complex organizations with complex systems and data environments.
- Experience managing hybrid operating models (in-house, outsourced, offshore) with strong vendor management skills.
- Deep knowledge of leading marketing automation platforms (e.g., Marketo, Adobe Campaign, or equivalent).
- Strong strategic thinking, change management, and executive communication skills; able to influence and align diverse stakeholders.
- Proven ability to drive measurable results in customer engagement, revenue growth and marketing efficiency.
What we offer you:
Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $164,700.00 to $222,700.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills.
