Our team seeks a Senior Staff Proposal Writer with experience in traditional U.S. Government, FEDSIM, and commercial proposals. This position is within the Strategy & Business Development’s Capture Operations & Excellence Group, which supports Leidos' largest, most strategic bids across the enterprise. This role works directly with Capture Executives, Solution Architects, and Technical and Management Volume Leads to develop compelling and compliant proposal products resulting in winning bids.
The position is primarily onsite in our Reston, VA headquarters during live proposals.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Work with Solution Architects and Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) to document, write, and articulate solutions and corporate experience against proposal requirements that also highlight-Why Leidos.
- Assignments include, but are not limited to, leading written responses to technical, management, corporate experience, staffing rationale, resumes, and transition sections.
- Work as part of a collaborative team to clearly articulate solution and strategy, approach to performing the work, experience, win themes, and discriminators.
- Apply communication and interviewing skills to gather needed information from internal and external personnel to support writing activities.
- Write clear, compliant, compelling, persuasive, and articulate proposal sections; translate complex ideas into easily understandable text.
- Develop and implement process improvements to help improve proposal quality.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with at least 12+ total years of professional experience or 10+ years with a master’s degree. Additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 5 years of experience working as a proposal writer responding to Federal Government solicitations with $100M+ valuation.
- Evidence of a successful track record of high quality, high scoring proposals.
- Demonstrated success writing and leading technical, management, transition, staffing, and/or corporate experience & past performance volumes for complex efforts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Due to nature of the role, U.S. citizenship is required.
- Ability to be onsite for live proposal efforts.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with Federal Government proposals, including FEDSIM proposals.
- Experience with traditional video, live orals, and / or demonstration proposals.
- Experience using Generative AI tools to support writing of compelling and compliant proposals.
- Active Secret or Top-Secret clearance and eligibility for SCI.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $126,100.00 - $227,950.00
