Job Description: The Leidos Mid-Atlantic Depot is seeking a Production Technician Lead to support and guide our growing production team. This role is ideal for an experienced technician who has strong mechanical aptitude, can interpret technical drawings, and has hands-on experience with cable builds, IT rack assembly, and production workflows. The Production Technician Lead will provide day-to-day direction, ensure quality and safety standards are met, and serve as a technical mentor for junior technicians.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead daily production activities, assign tasks, and ensure work is completed accurately and on schedule.
- Serve as a mentor for new and junior production employees, providing guidance, answering process-related questions, and supporting skills development.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions, ensuring correct execution by the team.
- Assemble and install components, cables, and hardware based on technical documentation.
- Build, route, and terminate RF, Ethernet, and signal cables to required specifications.
- Oversee IT rack builds, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and adherence to program requirements.
- Perform in-process quality checks, verify compliance with company and industry standards, and address any discrepancies.
- Identify process improvements, recommend workflow changes, and help reduce rework or rejection rates.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, and ensure others follow safety and housekeeping expectations.
- Act as a liaison between technicians, supervisors, engineers, and QA to resolve technical and production issues.
- Track daily progress, report status updates, and ensure production milestones are met.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years of hands-on production, assembly, or cable-building experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency with hand and power tools.
- Leadership experience - formal or informal (task lead, mentor, trainer, or similar).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to coordinate work across a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic assembly/cable issues and guide others through resolutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Extensive experience building RF, Ethernet, and/or signal cables.
- Experience leading or training technicians in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Experience assembling IT racks, technical cabinets, or similar equipment.
- Familiarity with ESD procedures, quality control processes, or Lean principles.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Stand, bend, and reach for extended periods.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $55,250.00 - $99,875.00
