Description
Reporting to the Sr Vice President of the Non-Kinetic Effects Business Area, the Directed Energy Division Manager will have overall responsibility for profit & loss, growth, technical execution, staffing and programmatic execution for a team of 140 professionals that research and develop directed energy systems, including high power microwave and high energy lasers. This position has the responsibility to deliver on the financial commitments to the business and mission commitments to our customers for programs initially totaling over $50M annually along with personnel responsibilities including oversight of hiring, project staffing, career development, and performance evaluation/accountability.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Operate in a fast-paced environment; demonstrate thought leadership; focus on delivering results; and collaborate across teams to support critical mission needs, engage customers, develop business strategies, and market potential solutions.
- Develop business strategies that provide opportunities for growth in revenue, coordinating and leading the activities of multiple departments and subsidiaries, and ensuring the financial goals established within the AOP are satisfied.
- Administration and management oversight of directed energy programs and staff, as well as business development and marketing for these technology areas.
- This division has approximately 140 people on staff in offices across the U.S. supporting a number of major customers including AFRL, DTRA, JNLWD, NRL, SNL, NSWCDD, SMDC, JIEDDO, and DARPA.
- Functional support provided for annual planning, tracking and compliance with business metrics/objectives, marketing and B&P investment strategy development for the division, and customer relations with local leadership.
- Provide guidance to program/project managers to ensure organizational, technical, managerial and business development goals and values are met.
- Interface with customers to develop relationships and ensure the highest quality of service.
- Promote cohesive team building with positive winning culture.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 12+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10+ years or prior relevant experience. Should have 7+ years of experience supervising or leading teams or projects.
- Prior experience managing P&L across similar sized teams supporting Directed Energy strategy and solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills including demonstrated ability to execute technical projects while gaining the confidence of customers, technical staff, managers, and peers.
- Demonstrated experience interviewing, hiring, and staffing multiple projects.
- Must be US Citizen with an active Secret clearance as well as the ability to maintain a Top Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience delivering high TRL prototype or production systems.
- Evidence of existing strong customer relations relative to the Directed Energy Division’s technology focus areas.
- Demonstrated direct financial management responsibility > $30M annually.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $148,850.00 - $269,075.00
