What does a successful Operations Application Engineer do at Fiserv?
A successful Operations Application Engineer ensures critical business applications are reliable, available and high‑performing by building scalable systems, automating operational tasks, and leading incident response — partnering closely with development, infrastructure and support teams to drive continuous improvement.
What you will do:
- Provide Premier Core application and operations support for Unisys and IBM i (iSeries/AS400) environments, handling configuration, troubleshooting and operational best practices.
- Build and maintain monitoring, alerting and telemetry to enable proactive detection and rapid resolution of incidents.
- Lead incident response, perform root‑cause analysis and manage post‑mortem remediation to prevent recurrence.
- Automate repetitive tasks and deployment workflows using scripting (Ansible, Bash, PowerShell), configuration management and CI/CD tooling to reduce toil and enable safe change.
- Analyze performance and capacity trends, maintain runbooks and system documentation, and collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to design for reliability and operability.
What you need to have:
- 3+ years in Premier Core, DevOps or IT Operations roles.
- Hands‑on experience with 2+ enterprise monitoring/observability tools (e.g., Dynatrace, Splunk, ExtraHop, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog).
- Proficiency in 2+ scripting/automation languages or tools (e.g., Ansible, Bash, PowerShell) used for operational automation.
- Experience with 1+ major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and Kubernetes; working familiarity with ITIL practices and enterprise change management.
