Boeing is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Associate Reference Archivist to join our Historical Services/Archive Team in Auburn, WA.
This role is pivotal in preserving and disseminating the rich history of Boeing and the aerospace industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and responding to reference requests from both internal and external customers, providing key support for historical research, and contributing to the organization and stabilization of all archival materials. The successful candidate will have strong communication and collaboration skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
Position Responsibilities:
Reference Services and Access: Responds to requests for specific information (ex: facts, data checking) from internal/external customers using standard research practices requiring basic knowledge of company and aerospace history. Gathers relevant information using libraries, internet, internal archive databases, and personal expertise using standard research practices to answer specific and in-depth questions and to ensure historical accuracy
Group Inbox Management: Efficiently manage the research group inbox to ensure timely responses to inquiries and requests for historical information
Material Arrangement: Organizes artifact records, film, digital records and photographs and negatives into collections per historical services policy. Retrieves, re-files material into proper location
Material Description: Catalogues by entering description and keywords, titles, etc. into archival database to ensure timely and accurate retrieval of materials requested by customers or historians
Information Retention Focal: Serve as the focal point for information retention, ensuring compliance with Boeing historical services program corporate policy
Writing and Documentation: Contributes to articles that highlight Boeing's heritage, milestones, and relationships
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor's degree in History, Archival Science, Library Sciences or a related field
3+ years of experience with archival cataloging
3+ years of experience with collection management systems such as ArchiveSpace
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Familiarity with archival principles and practices, including arrangement, description, and preservation, as applied to aviation-related materials
Proficiency in using archival management systems and digital tools for cataloging and digitization of aviation artifacts and records
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
Strong written communication skills
Preference for experience collaborating across large matrixed organizations, with the ability to support various department goals

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range: $76,500 -$103,500
