Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
Job Description
NBC News Group is looking for a Sr. Manager of DTC Retention & Engagement to help build and grow our NBC News DTC business from the ground up.
This role will play a key part in developing and executing our DTC strategy. Reporting to the Director of DTC Growth, this role will work cross-functionally with marketing, product, editorial, and data teams to drive subscriber growth and retention and achieve key performance goals.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partner with product and data teams to identify behaviors that drive early engagement and retention.
- Design and manage the subscriber onboarding journey across platforms (email, app, web).
- Identify opportunities to increase engagement through recommendations, alerts, and editorial curation.
- Build and manage engagement campaigns across email, push alerts, and SMS to drive regular product usage.
- Analyze data to identify drop-off points and re-engage users. Implement churn prediction models and proactive retention campaigns to reduce churn.
- Partner with acquisition manager to ensure cohesive messaging and channel optimization.
- Design and execute win back programs using targeted offers, new content experiences, and refreshed value propositions.
- Create and deliver reports to key stakeholders and executive leadership.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in DTC growth or subscription marketing, ideally in digital media.
- Deep understanding of the subscription funnel and lifecycle marketing.
- Experience with a variety of MarTech platforms, including CRM/customer lifecycle/payment processors (Braze, Piano), ESPs (Sailthru), and MMPs (Branch, Kochava, Airship).
- Strong analytical skills. Comfortable with dashboards, data tools, and A/B testing.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills. Comfortable collaborating across editorial, marketing, product, and tech teams.
- A user-centric approach.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and action-driven.
- Passion for journalism and the NBC News mission.
Additional Requirements:
Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, which currently requires contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week. Beginning January 5, 2026, hybrid employees will be required to work from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.

Salary range: $110,000- $130,000
