Job Overview
The Service Engineer is responsible for trouble shooting, problem solving, and working with the quality process to minimize the downtime of our construction equipment products (e.g; Quarry and Mining Equipment). This team will provide feedback to our global manufacturing headquarters (located in Japan) of trends and patterns of the construction equipment that may be related to the North American market applications or product quality (Ex: defect in material/workmanship). The Service Engineer will work with the Quality team and investigate the root cause of certain failures and work through the countermeasures process to ensure product quality. This position is responsible for determining the differences between a defect in material/workmanship or if the failure was an end user (customer/operator) error. The Service Engineer will also be responsible for troubleshooting a failure. Will use their analytical and problem-solving skills to review failure trends and determine the root cause.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Technical Service Requests (TSR) - Review and respond to incoming technical service issues to assist distribution with issues.
- Technical Service Information (TSI) - Review and process inbound TSI information and send to the respective mfg. plant for further review.
- Other special projects as required.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Must have at least 3-5 years of "hands on" field Service or shop Service experience
- Education (Trade school) or an Associates degree in Applied Science in heavy equipment/agriculture service (Komatsu ACT or other manufacturer equivalent).
- Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communications.
- Ability to multi-task, manage multiple deadlines and projects.
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to thrive in a fast-paced environment with the ability to handle pressure.
- Strong motivation self starts and the ability to work as an individual and in a team environment to make contributions that Komatsu results.
- Must have strong proficiency in Microsoft Office specifically with Pivot Tables and other reporting tools a plus, graphs and creating presentations.
- Must demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Must be able to travel up to 25-30% which may include International travel without any restrictions.
Additional Information
The travel required for this position is done by both plane and rental car.This position may be required to walk around stock yards on gravel or uneven pavement, required to climb and pull themselves up on mining and construction equipment, which can be both quite large and tall, in order to troubleshoot problems. Due to the nature of the position, the individual will have exposure to adverse weather conditions (hot, cold, humidity, etc.) due to the customer and distributor work sites (Example high altitude, stock yards, etc.).
Must be able to lift a minimum of 30-40 lbs.
Hiring Range
At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays $Minimum Pay: $88,100, Mid Point: $110,100. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
