What does a successful Senior Backend Software Engineer do at Fiserv?
As a Senior Backend Software Engineer, you will have the opportunity to conceive, develop and bring to market robust technology solutions that will leverage the 300MM transactions per day that are supported within our Merchant Solutions tech organization. With a focus on cloud based micro service architecture, we analyze and process over 8,000 transactions per second at peak. Utilizing a horizontally scaling infrastructure, our solutions have the ability to auto scale even further to ensure timely responses for the merchant community regardless of future growth.
Fiserv is dedicated to develop in house world class analytic tools for its merchant client base to provide insight into customer behavior that drives key business decisions. Our data and analytics organization leads the efforts in empowering technology tools to grow our merchant partners’ business.
What you will do:
- Design and maintain large-scale high frequency, low latency applications
- Meet customer commitments in delivering high quality code on or ahead of schedule
- Stay up to date with technology advancement and ensure our product technology stack is optimized for strategic growth
- Be a team player with ability to collaborate idea sharing in strong product setting
- Adhere to agile sprints, delivery framework, and SDLC best practices
- Display strong verbal and written communication, with ability to interact with all levels of the organization
- Interact with the product management team in understanding requirements and provide estimates, high level design and detailed design for product and customer enhancements
What you will need to have:
- 6+ years of experience in Java development, RESTful APIs, Messaging Technologies (Kafka, MQ, JMS) and Maven
- 6+ years of experience using framework toolsets such as Spring Boot and Micro Service Architecture
- 3+ years of experience in SQL databases
- 3+ years of experience in Cloud Based technologies such as AWS EC2, Snowflake or Azure
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, work, or military experience
What would be great to have:
- Experience in CI/CD concepts and tools such as Maven, Jenkins, etc
- Experience in automated testing, mock frameworks, virtual service and performance testing
- Experience with agile methodologies

- This role is on-site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity.
