Job Title: Design Engineer
Salary: £47,615 - £65,000, depending on experience
Location: Wimborne, Dorset

The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual with a passion for progression to join our Engineering design team at the Caterpillar Marine facility in the UK. Our Wimborne facility is responsible for the design, manufacture, sales & support of all Caterpillar Marine product up to 500 bhp for propulsion and 200 ekW for the genset range.
The team has responsibility for all areas of the engine & genset design, with particular focus on fuel system, electrical system, cooling system and structural components as well as working directly with global colleagues on the core engine component selection.
Within this design role you will work on internal and external customers projects, including new product introductions, current product maintenance, cost reduction activities and supplier development opportunities.
What You Will Do
Concept through to detailed design of new and innovative solutions which are validated to meet functional and technical requirements
Make calculations, design decisions with necessary analysis.
Provides technical guidance to ensure the design and drawings meet our exacting engineering standards.
Work directly with global teams, suppliers, customers, production facilities to define problems and collaborate to reach solutions.
Effectively communicating technical information, project updates, and challenges in a succinct and accurate manner to diverse audiences.
What You Will Demonstrate
Degree Requirement - Degree required

Computer-Aided Design & Engineering: Knowledge of tools and techniques of specialized graphics programs; ability to produce, analyze, simulate and test product design drafts - Level Extensive Experience
Product Design - MFG: Knowledge of processes, approaches, tools and techniques of product design; ability to convert customer and market requirements into product design - Level Extensive Experience
Product Design and Development: Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production Level Working Knowledge.
Top Candidates May demonstrate:
FEA Simulation – Modal & Static analysis
Light Fabrication Design. Sheet steel material specification, forming, bending, and welding knowledge
Previous experience of Siemens Teamcenter & Visualisation tools
