The EHS Senior Leader role is responsible for planning, implementing and maintaining environmental, occupational health and safety programs and processes. The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Manager QSMS to enable and foster an integrated approach to safety and quality at BDA. This role integrates the activities of employees and first-level managers, drives achievement of safety and quality objectives and continuous improvement, and ensures compliance with regulatory and business requirements.
This is senior organisational role suitable for an experienced leader that can exercise a pragmatic approach to effectively navigate a complex organization operating in a highly technical, innovative, and regulated environment. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Operations Integration, the role is ideally based in Brisbane; however, alternative locations may be considered for suitable candidates.
Key accountabilities:
- Ability to pragmatically interpret business requirements and apply legislation, regulations, policies and procedures in a complex operating environment across both sustainment services and production to enhance safety and quality standards
- Lead and support an integrated approach to safety and quality to establish a fit-for-purpose system that meets the requirements of stakeholders and relevant standards, ensuring they are responsive to changes in legislation and the needs of the business.
- Implement and monitor EHS policies, procedures and processes.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, peers, business partners and direct reports.
- Provide technical oversight and approval of approaches, products and processes.
- Lead, develop and motivate teams to sustain high performance.
- Work with teams and partners to cultivate a positive safety culture and implement critical controls.
- Translate and communicate complex concepts to stakeholder groups, including updates to BDA's senior leadership team on quality and safety matters, trends, and analysis leadership, so that the organisation understands what matters.
To be successful, you will possess some/all the following:
- 5+ years in a senior leadership role within Safety within a commercial and/or defence aviation organisation.
- Collaborative and influential with a strong commitment to outcomes and values-based leadership.
- Strong communicator who can engage and motivate geographically dispersed teams.
- Lead with initiative and exercise critical systems thinking to deliver integrated solutions to complex problems.
- Adaptable and solutions-focused.
