Under direction of Leader/Supervisor perform a variety of duties, as assigned, to operate, maintain, service and repair equipment, systems and control devices for providing heat, water cooling air and other utilities and to support plan operations.

Under direction of leader/supervisor operate, maintain and repair powerhouse and auxiliary generation and distribution equipment and related system components. Monitor and control operation of complex boilers, compressors and air machinery for use throughout the plant.

Perform installation, overhaul and repair work and carryout preventive maintenance and service as required.

Provide assistance to others in system operation, care and use for equipment and proper work practices and work in support of special project groups.

Perform similar duties throughout the facility within the scope and skill level of this job description. Assist other trades working on joint projects where common skill crossover provides the opportunity for shared responsibilities and more effective use of available skills.
Qualifications You Must Have:

HS Diploma or GED
-
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Equivalent to 5+ years trades training and boiler operation experience.

Requires well rounded knowledge of the operation of steam generation, cooling towers, gas compression, water treatment, and auxiliary distribution systems and associated control system and components.

Must be familiar with principles of combustion, maintenance, and repair of boilers and safe operating procedures.
Qualifications We Prefer:
-
Knowledge of jet turbine (GG8) operation and maintenance is preferred.

Candidates that already possess or able to obtain within 45 days of arrival a Connecticut State Operating Engineer (OE-2) License are preferred. May be required to train for, obtain and maintain other licenses, operator permits and certifications with the specialization.
