Our strategic unit with Collins, Connected Aviation Solutions (CAS), provides advanced information management systems, products and services that enable the connected aviation ecosystem by bringing together Collins’ unique breadth of aviation products with our smart digital solutions to help us enhance every aspect of the end-to-end travel experience. The Network and Connectivity Engineering (NCE) Team within CAS Engineering has the responsibility Air Traffic Control and Airline operational data on a secure, high-availability communication system between aircraft and their airline hosts systems and Civil Aviation Authorities. This worldwide communication system consists of diverse technologies including RF, private WAN networking, Network Management, Data Analytics, Embedded Communication Protocols, Mobility management algorithms, and High Availability/Disaster Recovery solutions. Over the next 5 years the NCE team, working in a hybrid, highly collaborative environment that fosters employee engagement and teamwork, will be engineering the modernization and overhaul of the world’s largest Air-to-Ground airline operation and air traffic communication system.
As a Cyber-Security Systems Engineer you will be responsible to support teams and programs for systems engineering design, analysis, planning, implementation, troubleshooting and enhancements with respect to the GLOBALink system. Responsibilities will include the following:
This is an onsite position based in Annapolis, Maryland.
What YOU will do:

You will serve as a technical member on projects that contain moderate to highly complex environments, utilizing high availability concepts.

You will develop and implement project plans within budgetary, schedule and resource constraints.

You will collaborate with other members of the Engineering team in the development of technical design solutions.
-
You will capture, analyze, decompose and create requirements for infrastructure security systems, products and subsystems of moderate complexity.
-
You will use an interdisciplinary approach, focusing on customer needs and business requirements, to design, develop, document, test and maintain network security systems ranging from the straightforward to moderately complex.

You will author, review and maintain documentation during all phases of the system design life cycle as appropriate and specified within documented process and procedure (Project Plans, Estimates, Requirements Documentation, Operational Scenarios, Design Documentation and Drawings, Sys Acceptance Test Plans, etc…).

You will conduct threat and vulnerability analysis, risk mitigation, information assurance, penetration testing.

You will apply Security/Cybersecurity methodologies to network and systems design to provide secure services that support business requirements and ensure information security.

You will configure and install various network security devices and services (e.g., stateful firewalls, web application firewalls (WAFs), SIEM, AA, IDS/IPS, DDoS, Anti-Malware/Anti-Virus Protection).

You will provide post-fielding support, resolving operational issues involving L2 and L3, in a multi-routing network infrastructure

Education & Experience YOU must have:

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience

Qualifications YOU must have:

Demonstrated understanding of project life cycle support, including requirements development, analysis, design, test, implementation and post fielding support.

Demonstrated Cisco experience along with related experience in Infrastructure/Networked environments with hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, WAFs, etc), designing, planning and implementing network security infrastructure for LAN-WANs using the industry standard technologies.

Demonstrated understanding of IP Networks, and network management concepts.

Strong understanding Cybersecurity assessments, mitigating controls, and vulnerability management to focus on IT/OT to drive the execution of project-based design/build efforts

Perform cybersecurity driven vulnerability management and system hardening

Perform system hardening per NIST, DFARS, or NAS based assessment and control requirements

Knowledge of Enrollment over Secure Transport (EST) and IPSec IKE

The salary range for this role is 90,000 USD - 182,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
