The Nationwide Financial ("NF") Customer & Business Innovation team focuses on identifying and driving growth opportunities that are strategically aligned, customer centric, and leverage Nationwide’s capabilities. The team works in close partnership with NF business units but also has the mandate to develop new business opportunities across all of Nationwide Financial.
This role supports the creation of the strategy, roadmap, and requirements of new products, experiences, business models or solutions with a cross-functional team of researchers, engineers, designers, business development, and partner managers. The role also requires a proven understanding of key digital technologies, existing and emerging. Demonstrated understanding of agile delivery methodologies and product owner/manager practices. Knowledge of user experience principles and practices. Strong understanding of business processes, strategy and operations across multiple domains. Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business language. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive consensus around technology solutions. Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive clarity in complex business and technical scenarios. Insurance and Financial Services industry knowledge a plus. The role will act similar to a general manager for their initiatives, coordinating all aspects and balancing multiple priorities.
This role will also lead the team's AI adoption and transformation, helping to define the strategy and roadmap for how AI accelerates growth and improves customer experiences across Nationwide Financial. The associate will serve as the AI lead on the team across initiatives, helping build the operating mechanisms that take solutions from concept to scaled, measurable outcomes, and helping the team upskill on this emerging technology.
This role will report to an Innovation Director and work in a small team with other product managers, matrix personnel and business leads. All candidates should have experience in "explore" and "build" activities (and shepherding solutions from explore through build & scale).
The strong preference is for this person to work a hybrid in-office schedule out of our Columbus, OH location (3 days per week), but remote internal talent will be considered if viable.

Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate degree, MBA preferred.
Experience: Generally, seven to 10 or more years of customer-facing consumer or business product development and product management experience, including defining, launching and optimizing products and services.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Proven general knowledge of product development and lifecycle management processes, the ability to think strategically and execute methodically, and deep customer empathy and curiosity that’s paired with knowledge in how to gather and synthesize consumer needs. Outstanding written and verbal communications. Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations and drive actions.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
