System Administrator for Storage and Data Protection, across a geographically distributed, mission-critical information system operating 24/7/365, managing petabyte-scale data using NAS, and SAN platforms whose services and sites are interconnected and must remain highly available at all times.

Work with a storage ecosystem including NetApp, Veritas, 45Drives, Synology, and other SAN/NAS technologies, championing architecture, cost planning, STIG hardening, vendor sustainment, and designing service-based STaaS (Storage as a Service) models for future program needs.

Drive lifecycle across hardware refresh, software updates, licensing, capacity planning, budgeting, service contracts, monitoring, disaster-recovery readiness, and power/space alignment with Facilities, ensuring infrastructure investments support both current execution, and long-term scalability mandates.

Work with a cross-functional collaboration, and deep problem-solving, between Digital Technology, Cybersecurity, Engineering, HPC, Tools, and Program customers, translating storage performance needs into technical plans, and delivering cost-effective, hardened, compliant solutions aligned to frameworks including DFARS, RMF, DAAPM, and NIST.

Documentation and continuously developing, refine, consolidate, and publish architecture diagrams, operational procedures, refresh roadmaps, and training knowledge bases (e.g., Confluence, SharePoint, Teams channels) to reduce key person risk, eliminate rework, and ensure audit-readiness on every site, and every subsystem.

Provide operational support: respond to support requests with timely resolution, clear stakeholder updates, minimal oversight, strong escalation strategies, active mentorship to grow systemic breadth of coverage, and measured improvements through surveys, metrics, and in alignment with structured Agile methodologies.

Must be able to travel domestically, up to 25%, to support geographically distributed sites and infrastructure, including coordination with program engineering, architecture, cyber teams, and facilities partners.

Must meet DoD 8140 / 8570 IAT Level II certification requirements, including Security+, or an approved equivalent, within 6 months of hire, supported by a track record of maintaining certification currency through continuing education units.

Experience with NAS and/or SAN storage and data backup systems, with technical administering and supporting NetApp FAS platforms, including ONTAP installation, storage and network configuration, data migrations, upgrades, availability domains, inter cluster replication, log analysis, and both CLI and GUI troubleshooting.

Proven leadership and teamwork abilities in high-velocity enterprise environments, with strong written-and-oral communication, documentation discipline, organizational skills, and low error execution standards.

Experience designing, deploying, securing, and automating Microsoft enterprise infrastructure including directory services (ADDS, Group Policy, Kerberos), imaging and software delivery toolchains (MDT, PXE, MECM/SCCM, WDS, WSUS), collaboration platforms (IIS, SQL, Exchange, Skype), and endpoint configuration at scale.

Experience with hybrid system integration across Linux and Windows in regulated or classified environments using identity and interoperability services such as Samba, SSSD, NIS, and Centrify or comparable cross platform access and authentication toolsets.

Experience virtualization experience administering vCenter, vSphere, Horizon, ESXi, vMotion, and infrastructure lifecycle management for clustered systems including configuration drift control, capacity planning, and continuous availability.

Experience operating security compliance, vulnerability, log, and audit platforms including ACAS, Nessus, SCAP, STIG, Splunk, Nagios, SolarWinds, and infrastructure or asset certification aligned to DFARS, RMF, JSIG, CMMC, NISPOM, JAFAN, and equivalent DoD mandates.

Demonstrated strength in scripting and automation using PowerShell, Perl, Python, Bash, Cisco or similar network scripting, infrastructure as code, and automation orchestration tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef, GitLab Runner, Podman, Docker, and Kubernetes or comparable container ecosystems.

Experience with enterprise networking concepts including encrypted MAN transport, segmentation, routing and switching architectures, network virtualization, firewall policy, load balancing, license hosting, inter-cluster topology design, and operating system hardening in compliance driven delivery models.

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
