Role Definition:
This position is in CFD and Engine Performance team which provides performance and simulation support for Caterpillar Business Units around the globe. The engineer has responsibility to provide performance evaluation for the gas turbine system. He or she will work closely with the team members to develop, model and maintain Solar’s performance methods utilizing DevOps and Agile methodology. This position requires working knowledge in gas turbine performance tools that are used to analyze, predict, and guarantee the performance and emissions of the company's current and future product line.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BE /ME in Mechanical Engineering
- Knowledge of engines or gas turbines and their control and operation
- 4 to 8+ years of gas turbine performance experience
- The ability to write and communicate ideas and issues clearly.
- Personal skills include the ability to work well with others and team spirit.
Technical Skills:
- Prior experience in performance simulation (MTech/BTech with 4-8 years of industrial experience)
- Strong Knowledge of 1-D simulation used in gas turbine performance simulation.
- Experience of modelling complex systems, and experience in using simulation tools to address gas turbine performance requirement.
- Experience in using the NPSS tools
- Knowledge in preparation of Performance test data and reports
- Knowledge of Gas turbines, compressors and auxiliaries
- Working knowledge of gas turbine engine software tools and principles

• Uses CAD to perform basic drafting such as wire frames, solid objects and array of objects.

• Creates views of objects in 2 and 3 dimensions; creates perspective drawings and orthogonal views.
