Overview
In this role, you will lead the enterprise-wide data governance program, establishing policies, standards, and procedures that ensure data is secure, consistent, and compliant with regulatory requirements. You will be responsible for the strategy, operating model, and execution roadmap to deliver trusted, high-quality data that supports decision-making, regulatory compliance, and business performance. While partnering across business units, corporate functions, and technology teams, the Data Governance Manager embeds governance practices, promotes data quality and integrity, and drives accountability, transparency, and values creation throughout the organization.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead development of the data governance framework; create and update policies, rules, standards, retention guidelines, and procedures for effective data management across the organization; and select, implement, and manage data governance tools
- Manage the Data Governance Office, provide guidance on issue resolution and risk reporting, and define corporate process flows and key data attributes to ensure alignment with governance standards
- Establish and lead a data stewardship network across business units — onboarding, enablement, accountability, and engagement
- Approve, maintain, and enforce data standards and models by creating frameworks for relational data flows, defining and tracking reporting KPIs, implementing data quality rules, and managing business glossaries, certified datasets, and data catalogs
- Manage data quality, metadata, and master data processes to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability
- Identify and mitigate risks related to data privacy, security, and usage
- Collaborate with the learning and development team to deliver training that promotes data literacy and compliance, while driving organization-wide adoption through communication, education, and change-management initiatives
- Ensure data management practices comply with relevant laws and regulations and support audit activities
- Work closely with business units, IT, compliance, and legal teams to communicate data governance objectives and ensure alignment with organizational goals
- Provide regular updates to senior leadership on governance effectiveness, compliance status, and data quality improvements
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, while planning and supervising assigned work
- Travel as required

Education & Years of Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Business, or related field with 5+ years in data management, governance, or analytics roles
To thrive in this role, you'll need:
- Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and maturing data governance programs
- Deep understanding of data governance frameworks (DAMA DMBoK, DCAM, CMMI, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with data catalog, lineage, metadata, and data quality tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Atlan, Alation, Purview)
- Solid understanding of enterprise data architecture, master data, analytics, and reporting ecosystems
- Demonstrated ability to build, mentor, and develop governance teams or stewardship networks
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Understanding of regulatory compliance requirements
- Policy development, drafting, and enforcing governance policies and procedures
- Project management and leading governance initiatives and cross-functional projects
- Proven experience leading and mentoring teams
- Experience with data management technologies and tools
- Project Management experience is an asset

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
