As an EHS Associate, you will participate in the design, implementation, and maintenance of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programs and associated policies and regulations. You’ll conduct inspections and testing, assist in employee training, maintain records, and contribute to policy development, supporting Caterpillar’s commitment to compliance, safety, sustainability, and operational excellence.
What You Will Do:
- Perform inspections and tests to monitor specific EHS issues, regulatory requirements, and company practices.
- Assist in training employees on EHS guidelines, Caterpillar policies and procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Make and maintain necessary EHS records according to established guidelines.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of EHS policies and procedures.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify hazards across business areas, workspaces, and processes.
- Complete incident report forms after detecting risks or hazards in the workplace.
- Prepare for emergency situations in accordance with EHS policy; ensure correct use of safety/PPE (e.g., safety boots, protective eyewear).
- Replace hazardous materials with environmentally friendly alternatives where appropriate.
- Support audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement efforts aligned to Caterpillar standards and sustainability objectives.
- Monitor basic performance metrics and assist with trend analysis to proactively address safety and environmental issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS considerations into daily operations and project activities.

- Process Management: Ability to document workflows, identify bottlenecks, and improve processes.
- Accuracy & Attention to Detail: Skilled in handling large volumes of data with precision and applying quality assurance techniques.
- Effective Communication: Strong verbal and written communication; delivers constructive feedback and adapts messaging for clarity.
- Influencing: Uses persuasive arguments and active listening to gain buy-in and influence decisions.
- Initiative: Proactive in identifying opportunities, balancing priorities, and driving results.
- Managing Multiple Priorities: Effectively handles concurrent tasks and adapts to changing demands without sacrificing productivity.
- Problem Solving: Applies fact-finding and diagnostic tools to identify issues and recommend solutions.
- EHS Policy Compliance: Knowledge of safety standards, risk assessments, emergency preparedness, and incident reporting.
What Will Set You Apart:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Safety, Engineering or other related field.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
- Environmental permitting and OSHA reporting experience.
- Familiarity with ISO 14001/45001 systems and enterprise-wide EHS initiatives.

Summary Pay Range:
$87,480.00 - $131,280.00
