Job Summary:
Cat Digital’s Platform Algorithms team is looking for a talented and motived Lead Data Scientist that will help improve platform data by developing and delivering ML/AI models to address the most challenging data issues. As a Lead Data Scientist, you will apply machine learning and other analytics techniques on a very large set of diverse data from IoT connected assets, our integrated network of dealers and enterprise data.
What You Will Do:
- Experience leading projects and teams to completion. Mentor and provide guidance to other team members.
- Leading, exploring, developing, promoting, and implementing various projects focused Machine Learning.
- Conducting research on data model optimization and algorithms to improve effectiveness and accuracy on data analyses.
- Interacting and collaborating with the Analytics management team, with the team members and colleagues outside the organization, including outside Cat Digital.
- Reporting and presenting team results.
What You Will Have:
- Machine Learning: Extensive knowledge of principles, technologies and algorithms of machine learning; ability to develop, implement and deliver related systems, products and services.
- Analytical Thinking: Extensive knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
- Business Statistics: Extensive knowledge of the statistical tools, processes, and practices to describe business results in measurable scales; ability to use statistical tools and processes to assist in making business decisions.
Considerations for Top Candidates:
- Advanced degree in a discipline such as data science, data analytics, computer science, engineering, statistics, mathematics, or other related degree
- Extensive experience in predictive analytics. Building and implementing machine learning models
- Advance experience programming in Python and SQL
- Experience with AWS products such as Sagemake, RDS, EC2, S3
Additional Information:
This position will have the option to be based out of our Chicago, IL or Peoria, IL offices.

Summary Pay Range:
$126,000.00 - $204,720.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
