JOB SUMMARY
The General Laborer is essential to maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient job site. The general laborer will assist skilled tradespeople, support material handling, and perform general site duties as needed.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist with loading, unloading, and transporting construction materials and tools
• Clean and prepare construction sites by removing debris and materials
• Support carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and other trades as directed
• Hold ladders, guide equipment, and ensure safety protocols are followed
• Operate basic hand and power tools
• Provide support for ladder setup and stabilization during work activities as required by the Client
• Support lifting, carrying, and relocating materials within the work area under Client supervision.
• Attend and participate in daily or scheduled toolbox meetings to review safety requirements, work assignments, and site updates.
• Set up and take down temporary structures (e.g., barricades)
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the job site
• Follow instructions from supervisors and project managers
• Perform other approved duties as assigned to support scope of work
QUALIFICATIONS
• Possess strong listening skills, communicate efficiently and apply them effectively in all interactions.
• High energy level with strong commitment to service quality
• Ability to work flexible hours, including holidays and weekends if needed
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and procedure manuals and handbooks
• English speaking preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to walk and stand for extended periods (up to 8–10 hours per shift).
• Ability to climb and descend stairs multiple times per day without assistance.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 35 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 50 pounds with proper technique.
• Ability to bend, kneel, reach, and work in confined or awkward spaces as needed.
• Ability to maintain alertness and mobility while performing rounds or inspection walks throughout large facility areas.
• Must be able to perform moderate physical activity continuously in indoor and semi-industrial environments (including variable temperatures).
• Must have good vision, hearing, and coordination to monitor entry points, operate access equipment, and maintain awareness of surrounding safety conditions.
• Wear protective gear or respiratory equipment when required.

• Exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
DRIVING CONDITIONS
To operate a vehicle at the customer’s site, employees must obtain an ABM drivers permit per the ABM Drivers Safety MVR registration program. This policy checks for a valid State ID along with a citation background check, and those with high-risk driving habits will need additional driver education in order to obtain the permit. Employees who operate company vehicles must consistently meet the requirements of the Facility Vehicle Safety Program.
