None/Not RequiredPosition Summary: We are hiring a Senior Principal Engineer (Systems Discipline Chief). The selected candidate must be able to:
The Systems Discipline Chief will be responsible for development and implementation of a Systems Engineering ecosystem for Commercial Seating and Furniture. The role will include oversight in designing, developing, training and maintaining Commercial Seating and Furniture systems engineering tools, workflows; ensuring their performance and functionality throughout their lifecycle. This position requires a deep understanding of Systems Engineering principles, systems integration, and proven expertise in usage of Systems Engineering tools. The Systems Discipline Chief will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure processes and tools are in place to support CS&F full lifecycle systems engineering application.
What you will do:

Collaborate with key Seating stakeholders to define system requirements and specifications, including Customer and OEM requirements and specifications.

Design, integrate, and test complex systems, ensuring alignment with functional and performance requirements for Seating Programs.

Conduct system analysis to identify issues, troubleshoot, and develop solutions.
-
Support system deployment, operation, and maintenance, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning.

Develop and implement system architecture, including new tools and processes.
-
Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with safety and security standards.
-
Provide ongoing support for system upgrades and performance improvements.

Create detailed documentation, including system configurations, tests, and user manuals for Commercial Seating.

Maintain an up-to-date understanding of emerging technologies and industry trends for Seating.
System Design & Architecture:
-
Design and define the architecture for systems included in Seating Programs.
-
Develop requirements, specifications, and interfaces for system components within Commercial Seating Programs.
-
Evaluate system performance, identify potential risks, and ensure compliance with agreed standards.

Requirements Analysis & Management:
-
Analyze customer needs (OEM’s and Customer) and translate them into system specifications.
-
Ensure that requirements are traceable throughout the design and testing phases.
-
Collaborate with various Engineering teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure alignment with system goals.

System Integration & Testing:
-
Lead integration activities across subsystems and components within Seating Programs.
-
Conduct verification and validation of key System requirements in Seating to ensure performance standards are met.
-
Develop test plans and procedures, and troubleshoot issues during integration and testing phases.

Risk Management & Problem Solving:
-
Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with the development and deployment of system thinking within Commercial Seating Programs.
-
Implement corrective actions for system-level failures and anomalies for Seating Programs.
-
Provide technical support and guidance to resolve system-related issues.
-
Collaboration & Communication:
-
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, software, Product Support and Quality assurance looking.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship for engineers and other team members as Systems Engineering matures within Seating.

Communicate progress, risks, and challenges effectively to key stakeholders within the Business.

Documentation & Reporting:
-
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system designs, requirements, tests, and integration processes within Commercial Seating.

Prepare reports and presentations for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Qualifications you must have:
- Typically requires Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field and 10 years of relevant experience. or Master's degree and 8 years of relevant experience.
Qualifications we prefer:

Knowledge of software tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, DOORS, or other systems engineering tools.

Experience with Agile methodologies and project management.

Strong knowledge of aerospace systems, including structural, and software subsystems.

Proficient in using systems engineering tools, modeling, and simulation techniques.

Familiarity with industry standards for Systems.
-
Experience with system integration, verification, and testing processes.

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
-
Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
-
Experience: 3+ years of experience in Aerospace systems Engineering or a related field.
The candidate for this position will work on-site based in Winston Salem, NC. The successful candidate will also be required to do some travel, as required, to support the Aircraft Seating segment of Collins Aerospace.
This role is eligible for relocation.

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
