Work You’ll Do
M&A Finance advises, implements, and delivers transformative solutions to clients to optimize their finance, accounting and treasury activities due to a pending/completed transaction, restructuring and strategic cost transformation event. The team provides subject matter knowledge across critical components of accounting, finance, and treasury. Our practitioners perform business process analysis, mapping, and design for M&A projects focused on the finance and accounting work streams. As part of the M&A Finance team, Senior Consultants assist in the above through synthesizing overall strategy by analyzing a wide variety of solutions. They select the most relevant tools/techniques to meet specific client requirements such as business case, pricing or complex financial analysis, and interpreting and reporting on outputs. Senior Consultants participate in setting engagement objectives and scope, developing work plans for components of engagements, coordinating activities between workstreams, and identifying changes in scope. They also design deliverable content to precisely reflect the engagement contract and client needs, working alongside Managers. Senior Consultants strive to improve deliverable quality through verification and validation of results, serving as trusted advisors to corporate and private equity clients.
The Team
Our M&A team offers expert guidance to corporate and private equity clients in navigating complex growth and divestiture scenarios. Our services encompass M&A strategy and transaction diligence, integration and separation planning and execution, as well as transaction financing.
Deloitte's M&A Finance specialists assist with deal closing, Integration and divestiture strategy and governance, integration and divestiture accounting and reporting services, developing and executing a Day 1 implementation plan, and addressing longer-term integration needs to create the future-state organization our clients envisioned. Our M&A Finance team has deep experience in both M&A and finance transformation. The team works with our clients’ organizations through the various aspects of a transaction to help them choose the desired path for finance. This keeps potential risks and costs to achieve a successful Day One while setting a foundation for agility and strengthened capability. The M&A Finance team helps define the approach to integrate and/or divest client assets in a manner that realizes the value associated with the deal. They focus on integration & divestiture activities in the finance, treasury, and accounting functions. This includes developing updated financial plans; financial close & reporting integration; or the harmonization of controls and compliance. The M&A Finance team is uniquely positioned to support the CFO and the Finance Function throughout all aspects of an M&A transaction.
Qualifications
Required:
- 4+ years of experience in M&A I&D or M&A I&D service delivery
- 4+ years of experience participating in setting engagement objectives and scope and developing work plans for components of engagements, coordinating activities between work streams, and identifying changes in scope of an M&A transaction
- 4+ years of experience providing industry insight and analytical support using data mining, pattern matching, data visualization, and predictive modelling tools to produce analysis and algorithms that enables pre-deal and post-deal integration, divestiture, and major restructuring/cost transformation activities to achieve/exceed deal value, synergy targets, or strategic cost takeout objectives
- 3+ years of experience in M&A I&D or M&A I&D service delivery within the finance function
- 2+ years of experience in an area of accounting and/or finance providing depth in that area
- Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years consulting and/or industry experience; alternatively, an MBA with 2+ years relevant work experience
- Limited immigration sponsorship may be available
- Ability to travel up to 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
Preferred:
- An MBA, CPA, CFA, or advanced degree
- Recent experience working in a professional services consulting firm
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills (MS Visio, MS PowerPoint)
- Ability to apply practical experience with communications, culture, and change management
- Ability to perform analysis and synthesize data into useful insights
- Experience in financial analysis, business process reengineering, and operational performance improvement analysis
- Experience with staff development and eagerness to mentor junior practitioners
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $118,700 to $218,600.
You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
