As an Associate Engineer at Caterpillar, you will be part of the Core Genset Components team, contributing to the global manufacturing of large generator sets. This role is pivotal in ensuring product quality, maintaining configuration accuracy, and resolving virtual design issues in working with across multiple international facilities.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
This position is for an Associate Design Engineer in the Core Genset Components product team. The successful candidate will support global manufacturing of large generator sets. Specific job roles include Lead the VDRA Issue Resolution to close NPI/NSI/Maintenance Projects for Large Genset Products. This includes facilitate meeting with Global teams to provide ICA/PCA to ensure timely VDRA closure to align with the program milestones and Build Start on Line (SOL) dates. This role also includes conduct and managing BoM audit to support the issue resolution to maintain the high standards of product BoM quality and Collaborate across global sites and functions to drive continuous BoM improvements process. The candidate will also responsible Manage and report weekly cadence metrics of VDRA Issue Resolution to the product group.
A successful candidate will interact with a global team and have strong communication skills both written and spoken with desired skills in basic engineering tools including Pro/E, Teamcenter, EDS, VisMockup and drawing standards.

• Interacting with a global team with strong communication skills both written and spoken with desired skills in basic engineering tools including MS Excel, MS Office, Pro/E(Creo), Teamcenter, EDS, VisMockup and drawing standards; an understanding of Visual Basic, Power BI, and SAP business systems .
• Provide support for fixing shop builds/issues by investigating, coordinating with L3s, identifying Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) and providing Interim Corrective Action (ICA) and Permanent Corrective Actions (PCA)
• Refines and improves product designs by investigating and developing solutions to product design problems
• Maintain good leadership skills in collaboration with Production, DTO teams, Sales Support Teams, Order analyst team and EC&S teams.
• Involve in technical discussions to resolve the Price list compatibility issues and closely working with L5 teams to resolve them.
• Involve in technical discussions with the EC&S (L3-Eng and Pkg) teams to Fix and Develop new components to resolve the Compatibility/BOM/Interference issues
• Provides guidance to EC&S (L3-Eng& Pkg) to understand the issue in the current builds and its effect across the Plat forms.
• Conducts regular review meetings with EC&S (L3-Eng and Pkg) teams, L4/L5 teams.
• Initiates and develops plans and controls the stages through production release and ensures proper maintenance of production drawings.
• Suggest MESA updates as ICA for the current builds until PCA implemented to the factory support team
• Using multiple channels such as weekly/Bi-Weekly and Monthly meetings, e-mails to communicate important messages with the L3/L4/L5 teams regularly.
• Identify the builds that were not build for more than 2+ years, validated the orders consist across the products and fixing the issues if any.
• Identify all the orders that are not driving material for the selected options (Feature Codes / PA's)
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in accredited Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 2 to 4 years of design experience.
• Experience with Caterpillar systems (HVC, EDS, Teamcenter)
• Must have strong problem-solving skills, a good mechanical and/or electrical/electronic aptitude, and good communications skills
• Prior genset experience
Desired Qualifications:
• Prior experience with product releasing to global facilities.
• Must have a good mechanical aptitude and strong problem solving and management techniques
• Requires good communication skills
• Advanced computer skills PACN, PLCN, CTS (Change Tracking System) familiarity
• SAP, EOMP, CSQ, Shop change/Green sheet familiarity
• Good VisMockup knowledge, some Creo experience, VDRA GenXT tool understanding
• AQE, OASIS, TMI and other CAT web tools proficiency
• MS Excel advance skills
