Caterpillar’s Earth Moving Supply Management team (EMSM) team is hiring a Procurement Quality Engineer in our Minneapolis facility.
Role Summary : As a Procurement Quality Engineer, you will be accountable for monitoring the external supplier network to meet the defined quality targets, enabling optimal and efficient facility operations. You will be collaborating with business partners and suppliers and resolving facility specific supplier quality issues.
What You’ll Do (Job Duties)
Provide conclusions and recommendations for quality issues and/or continuous quality improvement projects
Participate in supplier quality improvement initiatives; work with suppliers to develop and improve quality levels
Ensure the reliability and quality of suppliers, implementing process controls, certification programs, evaluations, inspections, corrective actions, audits and records
Identify quality problem(s) and determine action plans with the facility management and supplier
Manage the corrective action process on supplier related quality issues.
Identify, contain and ultimately eliminate the defect through Root-Cause-Corrective-Action Analysis and containment plans
Use facility-based systems and purchasing reporting systems (eg. NCMs, EtQ, MRDR’s, POU documentation) and communicate supplier corrective action details to ensure that the customer is totally confident in Containment and Final Corrective Action Plans.

Degree or equivalent experience desired

20% domestic travel required

Collaborating Knowledge of collaborative techniques; ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
Effective Communications Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Problem solving Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
Top Candidates Will Also Have
Knowledge of the concepts, principles and techniques of Root Cause Analysis (RCA); ability to use a structured approach to identify the causes of undesirable consequences in a manufacturing environment and the changes needed to prevent recurrences
Knowledge of purchasing tasks/ activities, procedures
and policies in manufacturing activities
Experience in understanding and interpreting specifications and prints.
Summary Pay Range:
$95,640.00 - $143,520.00
