Are you passionate about shaping the future of heavy machinery? Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a highly motivated individual for the role of Senior Structures Design Engineer on the compact track and skid steer loader (CTL/SSL) Heavy Structures Team. In this position, you’ll play a leading role in the design and validation of large, welded fabrications and other complex structural systems for our compact track and skid steer loader products.
Role Summary : As a Senior Structures Design Engineer at Caterpillar, you’ll be responsible for designing and validating machine structural concepts that not only meet but exceed customer expectations for quality, performance, and durability. Your role will not only include design, but also encompass product and process development, collaborating with both internal teams and global suppliers. Additionally, you will provide valuable engineering support for current production manufacturing and processes across a worldwide manufacturing operation, ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency. What You’ll Do (Job Duties)
Apply your expertise in welded fabrication and heavy structures design, leading the development of robust and durable components and fabricated assemblies.
Utilize Creo Simulate and other advanced FEA tools to analyze and optimize designs, ensuring structural integrity and performance.
Put your structural validation and testing experience to work, conducting thorough assessments to validate design integrity and durability.
Demonstrate your project management skills as you oversee the complete project lifecycle from concept to full production, while ensuring delivery to program timelines and quality standards.
Leverage your proficiency in product cost estimation and modeling to drive efficiency and cost-effectiveness in design solutions.
What You Have (Core Skills)
Degree: Bachelor’s degree in engineering/engineering technology
Product Design/CAD: Must have extensive experience designing and drawing complex fabrications and structural components, such as frames, loader arms and booms, light fabrications and enclosures, or other fabricated assemblies. Demonstrated CAD and PLM capabilities, preferably using Creo and Teamcenter Engineering.
Technical Excellence: Must be proficient in common FEA methods using Creo Simulate or other FEA software, showcasing your ability to analyze and optimize designs for structural life and performance.
Managing Multiple Priorities/Project Management: Track record of successfully leading design projects from conception through completion, showcasing your ability to keep projects on schedule and within budget.

Mentorship: Previous mentorship skills, capable of leading people/projects towards common goals and inspiring excellence in performance.
Summary Pay Range:
$110,520.00 - $165,840.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
