Caterpillar’s Resource Industries Electrification Solutions (RIES) team is developing key technologies to help our customers build a better, more sustainable world! Our products will help shape the future of electrified mine sites around the world. As DET Sr. Engineer, you can be a part of that journey with us by providing world-class product development of innovative solutions such as Cat® Dynamic Energy Transfer (DET).
Cat® Dynamic Energy Transfer (DET) is a fully Caterpillar-developed system that can transfer energy to both diesel-electric and battery-electric large mining trucks while they are working around a mine site. It can also charge a machine’s batteries while operating with increased speed on grade, improving operational efficiency and machine uptime. The innovative Cat DET system provides the industry with options to support both near-term and long-term sustainability strategies. You will have a pivotal role to work with Caterpillar team members in a critical and fast-paced product development function to deliver solutions that make our customers successful with sustainable site solutions.
The DET Sr Engineer will be responsible for the stationary infrastructure design control (ramp / rail) and integration into the broader DET system. This role is part of a high-paced high-performing team working to mature production-ready designs at a system level.
What you will do:
• Developing functional product development plans, including requirements, decision A3’s, design concepting, detailed design, CPPD efforts, FMEA, validation planning, and technical reports.
• Organizing, coordinating, and executing the building, testing, and analysis of design iterations.
• Participating in buy-build analysis for product components and support value chain development efforts.
• Participating in customer support through rapid resolution to field issues.
Degree Requirement: Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering (mechanical or electrical), Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.
What skills you will have:
Business Process Improvement: Knowledge of business process improvement best practices and ability to use methods for identifying, evaluating, introducing and implementing more efficient approaches to performing business related activities.
Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
Quality Management: Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.
Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
Systems Thinking: Knowledge of the critical interdependencies among individual system elements that help and hinder performance; ability to plan and design solutions that synchronize resources to achieve business results.
Additional Information:
This position requires the candidate to work full-time at the Tucson, AZ office.
Domestic relocation assistance is available.
This position may require 25 % travel.

Summary Pay Range:
$110,520.00 - $165,840.00
