Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is hiring for multiple Systems Engineers to support development and sustainment efforts for the P-8A Advanced Airborne Systems (AAS) program located in Richardson, TX. The candidates will support multiple phases of the product lifecycle including requirements-development, architecture analysis, bid & proposal work, verification & validation, and change impact analyses. One of the candidates will serve as the Technical Lead Engineer (TLE) for the Systems Engineering team. The other will be an individual contributor role that will primarily begin supporting system-level test but will eventually include supporting the full lifecycle of systems engineering. The expectation is that the role will include mentorship and leadership for a team of systems engineers.
This position supports a cross-functional engineering team, primarily comprising software engineering, and there will be opportunities to cross-train to enable technical growth and continued learning. The candidate may have the opportunity to interface directly with customers and end users, present at design reviews and to senior leadership, and make an impact at a program level. This role will also be performed while utilizing a cross-functional Agile framework.

Position Responsibilities:
- Serve as a senior or lead systems engineer for AAS P-8A Poseidon Systems Engineering, Integration & Test (SEIT) organization supporting Mission Systems Engineering.
- Apply excellent communication skills as this position will work with many technical and non-technical personnel and will need to be well-versed in creating and maintaining good relationships; this role will operate in a cross-functional Agile framework.
- Support systems and multi-disciplined (primarily software) engineers in defining and managing requirements using DOORS, developing trade studies, performing analyses, and controlling associated data and information.
- Serve as the engineering focal or support role for proposals and basis of estimate (BOEs).
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the overarching system and the interrelationships among all positions and activities; includes assessing the impact of changes in one area on others, recognizing the connections between system components and plans, anticipating future events, and applying system thinking principles to enhance overall performance.
- Ensure SEIT best practices are being followed and to ensure safety and quality of the product.
- Coordinate and conduct formal testing of mission systems software or training devices with the customer and quality assurance, as needed.
- Oversight of the development of test cases and test procedures that demonstrate compliance to requirements for testing (i.e. Design Verification Test, Qualification Test, HW/SW Requirements Based Testing, etc.), as needed.
- Write detailed reports with test results following informal test events and formal test reports following formal testing.
- Support software developers by testing development software from an operator perspective and providing feedback; work to identify cause of any system-level test failures.
- Effectively communicate with technical personnel across multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate technical information and address issues that impact the design, production, and support of products, services, or other deliverables.
- Identify program or technical risks as well as implement engineering changes, document releases, and deliveries.
- Lead or support various program lifecycle events including TRR, SRR, PDR, CDR, Flight test Readiness Reviews, and Modification Readiness Reviews, as needed.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
- Experience with the system engineering development lifecycle (V-Model), including requirements and architecture development, test, and systems verification.
- Experience with Requirements Management Tools (i.e. DOORS).
- Experience in managing requirements of DoD contracts.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Level 4: 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Level 5: 10 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working in an Agile framework while supporting cross-functional teams.
- 5+ years in a technical leadership role.
- Experience with software architecture and development processes.
- Knowledge of tasking performed throughout engineering development lifecycle (requirements, design, software, test & integration).
- 8+ years’ experience with requirements development, verification, validation, ICDs, risk, issues and opportunities management and/or trade studies.
- 14+ years of related engineering experience.
- Experience in System-level Automated Test development and execution.
- Experience working in an environment with assigned tasks that drive to completion within a schedule.
- Possess knowledge and/or experience in various engineering disciplines such as software, electrical, and systems engineering.
- Experience in using scheduling tools (i.e. MS Project, Gitlab, Jira, etc.).
- Knowledge and/or experience in applying program management best practices.
- Experience in managing requirements of DoD contracts.
- Education/experience in 1 or more of the following: DOORS, SysML, Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF), GitLab.
- Experience developing Basis of Estimates and supporting proposal activities.
- Experience with software architecture and development processes.
- Experience in formal Agile Leadership role(s) (Product Owner, Scrum Master, etc.).
- Some experience with Operator/Machine Interface (OMI) design.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range for Lead level (Level 4): $138,550 - $187,450
Summary pay range for Senior level (Level 5): $165,750 - $224,250
