Leidos’ Defense Systems Mission Assurance organization is seeking a 2nd Shift Quality Assurance Inspector to join our Space Systems team in Huntsville, AL. This role will primarily support the Wide Field of View (WFOV) program—an optical payload on a missile warning and tracking satellite. You will play a critical role in ensuring mechanical and electrical spaceflight hardware meets all requirements.

Primary Responsibilities
Support 2nd shift operations (approximately 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM) at our Huntsville, AL assembly facility. Occasional 1st shift or weekend support may be required during critical manufacturing periods or training.
Perform quality inspections to verify that optical components, mechanical assemblies, electrical cables, and integrated hardware meet drawing and specification requirements.
Collaborate closely with engineering and production teams in an interactive, team-oriented environment.
Work in a fast-paced development and production cleanroom environment with minimal supervision.
Ensure nonconformances are properly documented and coordinate final dispositions with engineering.
Perform additional duties as needed, including receiving inspection, shelf-life material tracking, First Article Inspections (FAI), End Item Data Package compilation, and part measurement using standard inspection equipment.
Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED with 3–5 years of relevant experience in quality inspection or assembly, integration, or testing of high-performance systems (e.g., aircraft, launch vehicles, spacecraft, submarines).
Ability to work 2nd shift as the primary schedule; initial training may occur on 1st shift.
U.S. Citizenship required and ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret Clearance.
Proficiency with standard inspection and measurement tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, multimeters, magnification tools, black light inspections).
Ability to interpret and apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements.
Experience witnessing test procedures and generating inspection/test reports.
Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, models, and specifications.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team environment.
Ability to pass a visual inspection eye exam.
Must reside in, or be willing to relocate to, the Huntsville, AL area.
Preferred Qualifications
Active Secret security clearance
Experience with spaceflight hardware (optics, satellite systems, electronics, cleanrooms)
Certified Quality Inspector (CQI)
Experience performing First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102
Experience working within an AS9100-certified environment

Pay Range:
Pay Range $50,700.00 - $91,650.00
