Job Summary
Join Caterpillar’s growing Electric Power Division as an Inventory Control Manager supporting our Griffin, Georgia facility. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring inventory accuracy, compliance, and material availability in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment. You will lead inventory control and reconciliation activities while partnering cross-functionally with operations, engineering, purchasing, and logistics teams to support production readiness. This is a high-impact role offering the opportunity to drive process improvement and contribute directly to the success of Caterpillar’s expanding electric power business.
What You Will Do:
Lead, check, store, and track incoming and outgoing inventory items across the facility
Maintain accountability for inventory check-ins and check-outs, including verifying order completeness and inspecting for damages
Ensure accuracy between system inventory (SAP/IMS) and physical inventory through regular reconciliation
Lead coordination of special or expedited orders, including handling returns and exchanges
Maintain computerized inventory records, reporting on inventory levels and activity, and entering new items into inventory systems
Ensure compliance with corporate inventory count standards, reconciliation guidance, and IDA/IRA processes
Own and execute perpetual and annual site inventory counts, including investigation and resolution of discrepancies
Supervise and provide day-to-day guidance to inventory clerks performing counts and reconciliations
Work cross-functionally with purchasing, logistics, engineering, and operations teams to ensure material availability for production builds
Support sales, purchasing, and operations by providing timely and accurate inventory data
Identify process gaps and lead continuous improvement efforts related to inventory accuracy, controls, and reporting
Proactively address inventory issues with a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail
What You Will Have:
Data Gathering & Analysis: Basic understanding and knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes; ability to collect and synthesize data from a variety of stakeholders and sources in an objective manner to reach a conclusion, goal, or judgment.

Materials Handling and Management: Basic understanding and knowledge of material handling and management in plants; ability to perform, monitor and improve processes related to storage, transportation and handling of raw and hazardous materials.
Identifies key issues involved with different types of manufacturing materials.
Discusses considerations for physical management of major types of materials.
Identifies types of materials used in manufacturing flagship products or components.
Describes packaging regulations and locates those specific to the requirements of the situation.
Problem Solving: Working knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
Identifies and documents specific problems and resolution alternatives.
Examines a specific problem and understands the perspective of each involved stakeholder.
Develops alternative techniques for assessing accuracy and relevance of information.
Helps to analyze risks and benefits of alternative approaches and obtain decision on resolution.
Uses fact-finding techniques and diagnostic tools to identify problems.
Physical Requirements
The ability to occasionally lift parts up to 35 lbs. individually or up to 70 lbs. with a team lift
The ability to bend, reach, and squat while performing tasks
The ability to wear required personal protective equipment for assigned tasks
The ability to work in an environment with frequently changing temperatures
The ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods while performing tasks

Additional Requirements
Experience in inventory management or inventory control
Experience working in a fast-paced environment with changing demands and high material volume
Hands-on experience maintaining inventory accuracy and reconciling physical vs. system inventory
Working knowledge of inventory management systems (e.g., SAP, IMS, or similar)
Strong attention to detail and ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies
Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
What Will Put You Ahead
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field OR equivalent practical experience
Prior experience in manufacturing or industrial warehousing environments
Experience managing high-volume parts and complex material flows
Experience leading or owning inventory-related projects (process mapping, audits, improvements)
Experience using SAP and reporting tools such as Power BI
Demonstrated ability to proactively identify gaps, suggest improvements, and drive solutions
Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and accountability
Additional Information
This position requires the candidate to work a 5-day-a-week schedule in the office
Work location is typically a combination of warehouse and office settings
Travel up to 25% is possible

Summary Pay Range:
$79,800.00 - $119,760.00
