Position Summary:
The Applications Engineer is responsible for the engineering and design content of projects & customer proposals. They perform all engineering calculations, expedite and process engineering changes. Have direct liaison with customers on technical matters as well as the development of products for customer projects. Are responsible for interpreting design requirements and specifications and develop those into an engineered solution.
What You Will Bring:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required, a Master’s Degree is ideally preferred.
- Over 5 years of post-graduate work experience, involving performing mechanical engineering calculations to determine product specifications for reciprocating or rotating equipment components.
- A good level of experience in conducting Root Cause Analysis – RCA.
- Familiarity with 3D CAD & strong computer skills.
- A strong understanding of Engineering Principles and design practices.
- Experience creating project charters, roadmaps, project management, and CapEx is preferred.
- Ability to interface with customers, sales staff, NPD, and manufacturing.
- A familiarity with the impact of the manufacturing process on the key factors that control the form, fit, and function.

What You Will Do:
- Analyze product designs utilizing Dover Precision Components (DPC) tools and practices, interpret results and determine optimum solution to the customers’ problem. Prepare technical information for new projects to customers’ specifications.
- Develop close working relationships with key customers’ technical contacts, ensuring that business opportunities are recognized and responded to appropriately at an early stage. Significant customer interaction with respect to the engineering and management of projects, pre and post contract, for assigned accounts.
- Interpret designs, assist / instruct the Design team, perform all engineering calculations, examine specifications, expedite and process engineering changes.
- Accountable for the successful completion of engineering projects
- Assist in the preparation of engineering project proposals
- Participating in client/contractor meetings and resolving client/engineering and management project issues
- Ensure effective liaison within the Engineering group to build and maintain consistently high engineering standards and to drive relevant product development
- Support engineering process development and design for manufacturability efforts through specific assignments as directed by Engineering Management
- Lead compressor and compressor part training seminars at customer and/or internal sites or virtually as needed and be able to fine-tune the training to the specific needs of the audience.
