Position Description: Position Overview
The Project Engineer (PE) supports the planning, execution, and closeout of Park Construction projects. As an on-site representative of the Project Manager, the PE ensures accurate project information, supports field operations, and helps maintain schedule, quality, and safety requirements. This role works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and design partners to drive successful project delivery.
Essential Duties & Position Responsibilities
Project Support & Coordination

- Serve as the Project Manager’s representative on-site, providing daily support to the PM, Superintendent, and project team.
- Review plans, specifications, and project documents to plan construction procedures, staffing needs, and sequencing.
- Support creation, updating, and management of the project schedule; work with subcontractors to ensure timely and accurate work performance.
- Maintain project documentation, including submittal logs, RFIs, shop drawings, contract documents, and long-lead item tracking.
- Assist with project layout and field engineering tasks.
- Run project-specific errands and assist with materials delivery, inventory, and equipment coordination as needed.
Quality Control, Safety & Compliance

- Manage and maintain the Project’s Storm Water Pollution Prevention Program (SWPPP).
- Implement and oversee the project-specific Quality Control Program to ensure compliance with all project specification requirements.
- Support project safety initiatives, including daily, weekly, and monthly inspections; toolbox talks; orientation processes; and incident investigations.
- Identify and report safety concerns, production trends, and potential risks.
Technical & Administrative Responsibilities

- Accurately validate and/or enter production data within Park’s Field Management Systems (e.g., HCSS Heavy Job).
- Review and process shop drawings, submittals, schedules, and RFIs.
- Assist in preparing schedules, identifying critical work items, and tracking long-lead materials.
- Maintain accurate as-built drawings, project manuals, and turnover documentation.
- Assist in project closeout activities, including punch list creation, documentation compilation, and client/owner turnover.
Communication & Relationship Building

- Build strong working relationships with owners, design partners, subcontractors, suppliers, and field workforce.
- Facilitate and participate in project meetings and coordination sessions.
- Proactively communicate field issues, design conflicts, schedule impacts, and project risks.
Other Duties

- Support GPS modeling, equipment quantities, and layout tasks as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the needs of the project and Park Construction.

Position Requirements: Education & Experience

- Accredited degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent experience (minimum 2 years in construction leadership).
- 1–3 years of experience in a construction-related role preferred.
Certifications & Required Training
-
- OSHA 30 Certification (required – able to complete at Park)
- CPR/First Aid Certification (preferred)
- Construction Stormwater Site Management certification (preferred)
- HAZWOPER, MSHA, TWIC, USACE CQC, Operator Qualification training (preferred)
Technical Skills
-
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience with construction data management platforms such as HCSS Heavy Job, Heavy Bid, and scheduling software.
- Knowledge of construction plans, specifications, and standard construction practices.
- Understanding of SWPPP regulations, Quality Control principles, and OSHA Construction Safety Standards.
- Familiarity with production tracking, cost analysis, and basic accounting principles (Vista experience preferred).
