Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
Job Description
- Serve as a primary digital reporter covering the Philadelphia Phillies across the full calendar year —Spring Training, regular season, postseason, Winter Meetings and major offseason events.
- Independently identify storylines, monitor league and team news, gather insights, and produce timely, relevant written content including breaking news, game recaps, analysis pieces, features and columns.
- Attend games, press conferences, media availabilities, and community events as needed to deliver on-the-ground coverage with strong journalistic standards.
- Generate enticing, SEO-friendly headlines and compelling storytelling that resonates with Phillies fans and national/international MLB audiences.
- Contribute to live coverage including real-time updates, social media hits, Q&As, and in-game storytelling across digital platforms. Execute on-camera responsibilities such as standups, quick-hit reports and sponsored elements as assigned.
- Ensure all content, regardless of platform, meets NBC Sports Philadelphia standards for journalistic integrity and quality.
Qualifications
- Proven writing and editing skills, in terms of quality and proficiency, with a strong knowledge of AP style and SEO. Experience producing content in fast-paced news environments is a plus.
- Excellent news judgment and ability to think quickly and act appropriately under high pressure and short deadlines
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of social media tools, including but not limited to Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook.
- Must be a self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision but also is able to work effectively within a team environment
- Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be detail-oriented and organized, and have a proven track record in multitasking effectively
- Must be able to work evening hours, as well as weekends and holidays, as needed
