Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) is looking for an Associate or Experienced Engineering Technician (Level 2 or 3) to join our team at the Starfire Optical Range on Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The selected candidate will be supporting the Air Force Research Lab in their advancement of Space Domain Awareness capabilities using ground-based telescopes. Starfire Optical Range is a world class research facility with recognized achievements in adaptive optics, enabled by the quality, enthusiasm, and dedication of our entire team. Our team consists of engineers and technicians in all disciplines required to plan, design, integrate, and test complex optical, electronic, laser systems to achieve research objectives.
Position Responsibilities:
Assists engineers and senior technicians with efforts such as optical alignment
Serve as a crew member for tests, being trained in optics and lasers, telescope operator, camera operator, or atmospheric operator
Participates in test design and performs routine procurement, fabrication and assembly of components, test fixtures and test systems
Maintains labs to Air Force standards for Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL), HAZMAT, ESD, property, and equipment maintenance
Facilitates systems integration, fabrication and modification; supports system pre-test setup, integration, checkout, and post-test tear-down
Troubleshoots and recommends resolution of basic laboratory and test-related problems
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
2+ years of experience in engineering technician, construction or facilities maintenance disciplines
2+ years of experience working with powered hand tools or equipment
Willing to work variable shifts; including days, evenings, nights and weekends
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
4+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience operating complex computer-based analysis or control systems
Experience with high power lasers
Experience with optical alignment techniques
Experience with electronics/electrical or mechanical systems

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Associate (Level 2) Summary pay range: $53,550 - $72,450
Experienced (Level 3) Summary pay range: $63,750 - $86,250
