Air Products and Chemicals Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for an Operation Technician at our Galt, California facility.
This role the candidate will be responsible for operating, maintaining and fixing processes and equipment in a facility producing and shipping various industrial gases. Responsibilities include working within procedure-based systems to ensure ES&H compliance, quality assurance, reliability, and cost control.
You must be self-motivated, safety conscious, a good communicator and possess good organization, operating and mechanical skills.

Responsibilities:
- Safety performance, Basic Safety Process compliance and process safety management.
- Support of all aspects of the day-to-day operation, including solving plant process problems, directly supervising daily plant activities and driving plant projects.
- Troubleshooting plant process or mechanical problems, coordinating maintenance activities, driving plant efficiency and plant projects.
- 24/7 on-call responsibilities for response to plant alarms and shutdowns.
- Identifying maintenance concerns, developing and implementing corrective/preventive measures while working within planned maintenance budgets.
- Working with the Galt Operations Team in covering vacation and outage support to all associated facilities within the Galt Site Manager’s areas of responsibility.
- Perform and maintain all administrative responsibilities for the sites.
- Working with support resources to achieve efficiency targets in all areas.
- Identifying maintenance concerns, then developing and implementing corrective / preventative measures.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Certificate in process technology or maintenance field (preferred) or 2 years minimum in a manufacturing/production, processing or chemical/ petrochemical environment a plus.

- Strong instrument, electrical and or mechanical proficiency is desired.
- Shown dedication to safety and continuous improvement
- Must be a self-starter and willing to work alone or as part of a team.
- Military training in a technical field
- Shown success in EH&S and Quality
- Confirmed experience in complex plant operations, skilled in troubleshooting
- Knowledge of generated gas or air separation processes a plus (training provided)
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Proficient in computer applications

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $44.28 to $48.48 per hour.
