Armed Security Officer - Salt Lake City, UT
$31.86 an hour + $4.93 H&W - Full-time
YOU MUST SUBMIT A DETAILED RESUME THAT SHOWS ONE OR MORE OF THE BELOW QUALIFYING EXPERIENCES:
- Military service - DD214 with an honorable discharge (combat arms preferred)
- Federal, State and Local Law Enforcement - POST Certificate and letter from the agency showing separated in good standing
- Armed Physical Security - minimum 3 years (Armored Car, Corrections, TSA Airport staff are not qualifying) and letter from the agency showing the length of tenure and separated in good standing
PHYSICAL FITNESS TEST/ FIREARMS ASSESSMENT
- Must be able to pass a physical fitness test which includes push-ups, sit-ups, a 300-meter sprint and a 165lb dummy drag for 25 meters
- Must be able to pass a firearms assessment
DRUG SCREEN/MEDICAL EXAMINATION
- Must be able to pass a drug screen and medical examination
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Complete the required training; and pass the required examination(s)
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Reliable transportation and a current Driver’s License
- Received a High School diploma, GED, or has College Transcripts
- Must be able to pass a background check covering the last 10 years
- Armed Security License preferred
- Be a minimum of 21 years of age; fluent in speaking, reading, comprehending, and writing English due to the nature of the position
- Ability to follow established procedures and policies. Post orders to include enforcement of client/company rules, policies, and/or regulations
- Excellent attention to detail, good verbal and written communications, including legible report writing
- Ability to provide quality Customer Service
- Ability to analyze and produce a course of action reporting and escalating issues to management in typical and crisis situations
- Ability to see, hear, and smell in Order to respond to alarms and detect emergency situations
- Reliable and have a strong work ethic
- Ability to work independently OR as part of a small group to resolve urgent issues; process-oriented with high attention to detail; ability to triage a problem quickly, providing precise/clear information while working under minimum supervision
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is under the direct supervision of the Shift Supervisor for assigned shift of the Critical Infrastructure Facility Security Officers (CIFSO) and is responsible for protection of facilities. Officers will enforce regulations to prevent breaches of security while exercising discretion and judgment when responding to situations
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct patrol, including but not limited to in-depth security against trespass, sabotage, theft, vandalism, fire, and other unlawful or harmful acts
- Security guards shall conduct visitor screening operations including badges and visitor records
- Additional duties include conducting inspection tours, monitoring mail packages through Security Control Room, assisting traffic operations, enforcing building regulations, responding to emergency management situations, and preparing facilities assessment reports
EQUIPMENT/ COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Security guards will be responsible for operating all security equipment on post and have basic typing and computer operation skills
- Must demonstrate continuing physical fitness and proficiency with firearms or special weapons on a semi-annual basis
