Supervisor, Janitorial Services – JLL
What this job involves: As a Supervisor, Janitorial Services at JLL, you will ensure the proper operation and performance of all aspects of a comprehensive sanitation program in both manufacturing and administrative environments while validating that all hourly staff perform their jobs to standards. This role requires you to always present yourself in a professional appearance and manner while overseeing daily janitorial operations, managing staff performance, ensuring safety compliance, and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness. You'll serve as a key leader responsible for coordinating cleaning operations, training staff, managing resources, and building strong relationships with area leadership that reflects JLL's commitment to operational excellence and comprehensive facility management in industrial environments.
What your day-to-day will look like:
Shift Management and Operations Coordination:
• Review previous shift End of Shift (EOS) report while annotating carryover items and developing comprehensive action plans
• Conduct beginning of shift briefings including personnel assignments to routes and required equipment
• Conduct safety briefings while submitting beginning of shift reports to Property Manager for operational alignment
• Run the floor throughout entire shift while flexing employees to address hot spots, absences, and operational needs
• Deploy emergency response cleanup as needed via radio communication for immediate facility support
Staff Supervision and Performance Management:
• Supervise all cleaning staff focusing on their performance in terms of standards of cleanliness and behavior while on duty
• Audit routes assessing employee cleaning and sanitizing procedures throughout shift using Corrigo system
• Establish cleaning standards and procedures for workers while ensuring adherence to Task Instruction Sheets (TIS) standards
• Coach and develop employees through ongoing training and performance feedback for continuous improvement
• Schedule and assign specific duties and roles to cleaners while ensuring expert execution of responsibilities
• Fill in on floor as needed due to gaps while maintaining operational continuity
Safety and Compliance Management:
• Ensure all personnel assigned to equipment conduct pre and post operation checks to assigned equipment
• Report incidents and hazards to JLL and Safety leadership while maintaining comprehensive documentation
• Spot check employee PPE requirements while ensuring 100% compliance with safety protocols
• Review and understand JLL policies and procedures along with janitorial vendor policies and procedures
• Review UAW policies and procedures while training on Lock-Out safety processes
• Ensure all staff are aware of Health and Safety policies and procedures through regular training sessions
Training and Development:
• Understand and train all employees on proper chemical usage and PPE requirements for safe operations
• Train on all assigned equipment within area while understanding basic preventive maintenance (PM) procedures
• Train employees on general and plant housekeeping programs via Task Instruction Sheets (TIS)
• Provide required assistance to cleaners while they carry out their duties for optimal performance
• Conduct multiple training programs to enhance staff capabilities and ensure compliance
Equipment and Resource Management:
• Inspect cleaning equipment on regular basis to validate equipment readiness and request maintenance support as needed
• Control and monitor usage of cleaning materials to avoid or minimize waste and misuse
• Report supplies usage for ordering while ensuring adequate inventory for operational needs
• Ensure 100% equipment sign-out and inspection completed by assigned employees
• Understand importance of recycling program while pushing requirements to employees
Environmental Health & Safety Compliance:
• Maintain OSHA, State, and Local Regulatory Compliance for comprehensive safety management
• Ensure HAZMAT (Hazardous Material) Compliance while managing commodity resources effectively
• Support Environmental Compliance Initiatives and ISO Compliance for sustainable operations
• Perform Environmental Emergency Response while ensuring 100% Employee Safety Training Compliance
• Perform timely Safety Incident Reporting and Monitoring while maintaining "0" Recordable and Lost Workday Case Injuries
Client Relations and Strategic Planning:
• Build rapport with area ME (Maintenance Engineer) and area leadership for effective collaboration
• Develop plans for compression work or shutdown while ensuring operational continuity
• Support Client Customer Satisfaction Survey initiatives through exceptional service delivery
• Provide timely response to cleaning requests while maintaining high service standards
Required Qualifications:
Leadership and Management Experience: • Previous Management experience required in supervisory or leadership role
• Strong organizational and management skills for effective team leadership and operations coordination
• Experience working in unionized environment with understanding of labor relations and collective bargaining agreements
Education and Professional Background: • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience
• Ability to work in fast-paced manufacturing environment with understanding of industrial cleaning requirements
• Strong interpersonal and presentation skills for effective communication with diverse stakeholders
Technical and Safety Knowledge: • Understanding of Environmental Health & Safety protocols including OSHA compliance
• Knowledge of HAZMAT handling procedures and environmental compliance initiatives
• Experience with cleaning equipment operation, maintenance, and safety procedures
• Understanding of chemical usage, PPE requirements, and safety protocols
Operational Skills: • Ability to work overtime as needed to meet operational demands and emergency situations
• Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (Corrigo preferred)
• Understanding of Task Instruction Sheets (TIS) and standard operating procedures
• Capability to conduct equipment inspections and basic preventive maintenance
