About the Team
The Business Evolution team is responsible for engaging Workday operational teams to identify and execute operating model changes, which help the company scale into our next phase of growth and performance as a company.
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Director, Business Evolution Business Architecture to lead the business architecture and process ownership function within the transformation projects led by the Business Evolution team. The first ongoing initiative is the GTM NEXT Program, which is a complete overhaul of the processes for Workday’s go to market motion and subsequent customer interactions through customer experience and support. This senior leader will own overall coordination of the defined transformation efforts from an end-to-end business design and continuous improvement of Workday’s transformational projects. This Senior Director will oversee a team of Business Architects that will interface with departmental process owners, setting the vision, standards, and roadmap for how Workday executes, measures, and evolves global processes. This role will partner closely with all business operational teams and the Business Technology organization to delivery successful results.
Job Responsibilities:
Global Process Ownership & Governance:
Define and maintain global end-to-end process ownership and roadmaps for defined transformational projects.
Establish business process architecture governance frameworks that drive consistency, control, and accountability across regions and operational functions.
Process Standardization & Continuous Improvement:
Lead the identification and elimination of process variation across the global ecosystem to create optimized operating models.
Create a culture of continuous improvement through automation, simplification, and measurable outcomes.
Develop metrics, dashboards, and scorecards to track efficiency, accuracy, and cycle-time improvements.
Technology, Automation, & AI Enablement:
Partner with Business Technology and Product to implement scalable, technology-enabled processes that align with overall IT strategy and security goals.
Champion automation opportunities across value streams, leveraging machine learning, intelligent workflows, and analytics.
Team Leadership & Talent Development:
Build and lead a team of Business Architecture / Analysts, fostering teamwork and cross-functional alignment.
Create clear role expectations, growth paths, and communities of practice to strengthen global process capability.
Inspire a high-performing team culture rooted in accountability, curiosity, and innovation.
About You
Basic Qualifications:
15+ years of progressive experience in IT, Transformation, Enterprise Architecture or Shared Services.
15+ years of expertise in end-to-end process ownership and optimization.
15+ years of experience leading large-scale global process improvement and automation initiatives across multiple value streams.
Strong understanding of business application systems (CRM & ERP) systems with direct experience using or deploying within large enterprise businesses.
Multifaceted industry experience to provide thought leadership on leading practice process design and automation.
Other Qualifications:
Strong leadership, communication, and facilitation skills.
A strategic mindset with a passion for operational perfection and continuous improvement.
Understanding of Agile/Waterfall methodologies and modern tech stacks.
The ability to translate sophisticated processes into scalable, digital, and data-driven solutions.
Proven leadership in building high-performing teams and encouraging a culture of accountability and innovation.
Outstanding collaboration skills with the ability to influence senior executives across Finance, Technology, and Product, including demonstrated C-Level engagement.
Deep knowledge of organizational value streams and how they interconnect across the enterprise.
A demonstrated track record of delivering measurable outcomes through process design, automation, and AI adoption.
Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degree in Technology, Business, or related discipline preferred.
Open to 50% reporting to Pleasanton, CA campus.

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things.
