Job Overview
The Engineering Systems & Data Management Coordinator at Hardrock serves a pivotal role in maintaining the accuracy, organization, and usability of engineering data within Komatsu’s Hard Rock product portfolio. This role ensures seamless integration and alignment of engineering systems and data processes, supporting cross-functional collaboration among engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, commercial, and aftermarket teams.

Key Job Responsibilities
Engineering Data & Systems Governance
- Oversee comprehensive management of engineering data including control, storage, and accessibility of technical drawings, master datasets, and web-based repositories.
- Ensure consistent, accurate data representation aligned with Komatsu’s internal standards by conducting regular audits and updates.
- Manage data security protocols and facilitate controlled sharing with engineering, manufacturing, operations, supply chain, and aftermarket divisions to safeguard sensitive information.
Product Configuration & Lifecycle Management
- Administer product structures and production material data across all Hard Rock product ranges, ensuring accuracy and alignment with engineering specifications.
- Serve as a key subject matter expert in configurable materials and product configuration processes, guiding lifecycle management efforts.
- Lead and support engineering change management procedures to implement design improvements, cost efficiencies, and product enhancements effectively.
Cost Modeling & Business Analysis
- Develop, maintain, and refine cost models leveraging Microsoft Excel alongside ERP system tools to inform accurate product costing and pricing strategies.
- Provide expertise on cost modeling methodologies and tools, collaborating extensively with cross-functional teams to analyze cost drivers and refine parametric models.
- Prepare comprehensive business cases presenting alternative solutions, sensitivity analyses, and return on investment assessments to support strategic decision-making.
Cross-Functional Process Leadership
- Lead and optimize the interface processes between engineering systems and sales order entry, ensuring high fidelity of data transfer and process integration.
- Build collaborative partnerships with commercial, finance, aftermarket, operations, and supply chain teams to ensure data accuracy and process harmonization.
- Contribute to value analysis initiatives pertaining to design specifications and material selection in conjunction with engineering stakeholders.
Performance Metrics, Training & Continuous Improvement
- Design and manage KPI dashboards to track and report on engineering data quality, system usage, and overall performance.
- Develop training materials and conduct sessions aimed at promoting best practices, system proficiency, and process standardization among engineering and related teams.
- Engage actively in operational excellence programs and continuous improvement projects to enhance system efficiency and data governance outcomes across the organization.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred, with equivalent practical experience considered.
- 1 to 3 years of professional experience in a global manufacturing or engineering environment, demonstrating strong familiarity with production and design processes.
- Hands-on experience in cost modeling within engineering, operations, or supply chain contexts, with proven ability to develop and maintain precise cost analysis models.
- Familiarity with SAP modules such as PP, MM, SD, and Engineering Change Management processes is an advantage.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with engineering data management systems or product lifecycle management tools.
- Working knowledge of Bills of Materials (BOMs), cost structures, and interpretation of engineering documentation is essential.
- Strong analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving capabilities to navigate complex data and process challenges.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and understand manufacturing workflows to support data accuracy and process improvements.
- Exceptional communication skills, with demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement across multifunctional teams.
- Meticulous attention to detail coupled with a process-driven approach to managing tasks and projects.
- Proven ability to prioritize workload and manage competing demands effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Compensation Range
At Komatsu, base pay is just one part of a comprehensive total compensation package designed to support and reward our employees.
For this role, the annual base compensation range is $63,756.00 to $79,695.00 CAD. The final offer will be determined based on several factors, including the candidates' skills, experience, qualifications, and the position location.
