KBR is seeking an Engineering Technician II to support our SMAS II Program for KBR’s Science and Space division. KBR provides lifting device and equipment (LDE) and pressure vessels and pressurized systems (PVS) engineering and engineering technicians at all Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), including Wallops Flight Facility. This is a union position and will be located at Wallops as an LDE Engineering Tech II.
The LDE Engineering Technician responsibilities include
- Troubleshooting and inspecting lifting devices and equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
- Determining extent of repair required.
- Adjusting equipment and repairing or replacing defective parts.
- Cleaning, lubricating and performing other minor maintenance work.
- Performing lifting device and equipment inspections, minor repairs, installations and respond to possible breakdown calls.
- Utilizing daily opportunities to train and instruct, along with more formal training, is required.
- Inspecting hoists, cranes, systems, chain falls, mobile aerial platforms, powered industrial trucks, mobile cranes, hydra-sets, and other ground support equipment used for projects.
- Examining all inspection tests, findings or repairs and obtaining customer satisfaction.
- Testing each crane repair for complete functionality.
- Completing daily paperwork accurately and completely; time tickets, service reports, inspection reports and sales lead generation.
- Maintaining all LDE program equipment and tools in compliance with the manufacturer’s recommendations and certifications.
- Displaying a professional image and working within a team environment to accomplish goals.
- Maintaining work area, equipment and tools in a clean and organized manner, following all safety guidelines.
- May attend design reviews and technical interchange meetings to provide safety assessments and technical support.
- Interpersonal relationship building and customer interfacing skills are desired
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Education: High School Diploma and a minimum of 1-2 years of lifting device or equipment inspection and testing experience.
- A Certified Inspector in Overhead and Mobile Crane, Powered Industrial Truck. Mobile Aerial Platform desired.
- Ability to obtain a NASA PIV badge.
