Title:
OPIR Analyst (Overhead Persistent Infrared)
Belong, Connect, Grow, with KBR!
Program Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) Analyst to support critical national security missions by exploiting OPIR sensor data to detect, characterize, and report on missile events, thermal signatures, and other time-sensitive activities. The ideal candidate will apply advanced remote sensing techniques and geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) methodologies to produce actionable intelligence in support of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), and other interagency partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Exploit OPIR and other remotely sensed data to identify facilities, infrastructure, and features of interest using PIR (Priority Intelligence Requirements)-driven imagery analysis to satisfy DIA and NGA mission requirements.
- Detect, track, and characterize thermal events, missile launches, industrial activity, and other phenomena visible in the infrared spectrum.
- Produce high-quality intelligence reports and briefings for multi-agency customers, including senior policymakers and operational customers.
- Maintain and update an enterprise geodatabase containing 170,000+ features to support multiple analytic teams and enable consistent, repeatable exploitation.
- Develop and maintain ArcGIS Portal Web Apps/Sites to disseminate intelligence products and support collaborative analysis.
- Generate metrics-based intelligence products to quantify mission impact, analytic throughput, and product quality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate OPIR-derived insights with other GEOINT sources (e.g., EO, SAR, MASINT).
- Stay current with evolving OPIR sensor capabilities, processing techniques, and analytic tradecraft.
Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI security clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Remote Sensing, Geospatial Intelligence, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Astronomy, or related STEM discipline); Master's degree preferred.
- 5+ years of professional experience in OPIR analysis, missile warning/tracking, or related infrared remote sensing exploitation (additional experience may substitute for advanced degrees).
- Demonstrated expertise in exploiting remotely sensed infrared data to produce intelligence reports for multi-agency customers.
- Strong proficiency with ArcGIS suite, including:
- ArcGIS Pro / ArcMap for advanced geospatial analysis.
- ArcGIS Portal administration and Web App/Site development.
- Enterprise geodatabase management and feature editing.
- Experience producing metrics-based intelligence products and dashboards to communicate analytic performance.
- Solid understanding of PIR-driven analysis and requirements satisfaction processes within the IC.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for authoring intelligence reports and briefing senior stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-tempo environment with time-sensitive deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with OPIR-specific tools and platforms (e.g., Advanced Geospatial Intelligence Environment (AGIE), RemoteView, ENVI, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with missile event detection, characterization, and reporting workflows.
- Knowledge of additional sensor modalities (multispectral, hyperspectral, SAR) and multi-INT fusion.
- Scripting experience in Python (ArcPy) or MATLAB for automation and custom processing.
- Prior military, DIA, NGA, or IC analytic experience.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., NGA GEOINT certifications, Certified Mapping Scientist – Remote Sensing).
