As the Engineering Group Manager (EGM) and Architect for Restraints, you will serve as both the people and technical leader for global vehicle programs across advanced vehicle development and launch. You will lead the technical development, architecture, and integration of Restraints subsystems while building and mentoring a high-performing team of Architects and Design Release Engineers. This role requires strong independent judgment, deep technical expertise, and the ability to balance safety, quality, cost, timing, and creative design intent to deliver exceptional customer outcomes through production launch.
What You’ll Do

Lead global Restraints subsystem strategy, architecture, and integration through AVD and production launch

Build, staff, and develop high-performing technical teams in collaboration with SMT, AVD, and Restraints leadership

Establish and execute workload plans to meet GDVP milestones with high quality and efficiency

Lead engineering feasibility, modeling, benchmarking, and subsystem BOM ownership

Partner with Creative Design, DLT, IDE, Studio, and Program Teams to balance design vision with vehicle imperatives

Provide clear technical direction in program forums and decision meetings

Define and execute advanced technologies, innovation strategies, BSET, and technology roadmaps

Ensure robust peer reviews, DFMEA/DRBFM/PFMEA execution, and disciplined problem solving

Communicate subsystem tradeoffs and escalate decisions as needed to Interior and Vehicle leadership

Mentor team members through performance feedback, career development, and knowledge sharing

Drive continuous improvement using lessons learned, launch feedback, quality metrics, and warranty data
Required Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited university

7+ years of relevant experience, including:

Strong knowledge of Restraints design, validation, manufacturing, and production implementation

Expertise in Peer Reviews, DRBFM, DFMEA, and PFMEA
-
Knowledge of Restraints technical requirements (KPACs, BP, TS)

Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary, global teams and operate effectively in ambiguity

Strong communication skills, including technical presentations to engineering, design, and leadership

Proficiency with Siemens Teamcenter Visualization (TcVis, Vis Mockup) within VAS

DFSS Black Belt certification (or ability to complete within required timeframe)

10+ years of automotive engineering experience supporting new vehicle programs

Advanced experience with CAE, manufacturing processes, materials, and team building
