Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) 787 Airframe Structures Team is seeking a Mechanical & Structural Engineering Manager (Level K) to join the Fuselage Life Cycle Product Team (LCPT) in North Charleston, SC.
As the Engineering Manager, your primary responsibility is to be the Stress Liaison for the Boeing South Carolina site and 787 Program. Your role will involve leading a team of structural analysis engineers to assess and resolve complex product and process issues discovered throughout the product lifecycle. You will manage a wide variety of concurrent work statements, including both long- and short-term assignments, while overseeing employees performing engineering and technical activities within Mechanical & Structural Engineering.

Using sound engineering judgment, this leader will guide their team to deliver efficient, practical solutions that satisfy product safety requirements and business objectives.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develops and implements business plans, policies, procedures, and organizational and technical strategies
Acquires resources and leads process improvements
Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes
Manages, develops and motivates employees.
Mentors and develops team member's technical and leadership capabilities
Helps facilitate daily team stand ups utilizing LEAN best practices
Proactively collaborates with customers and support organizations, building positive relationships (i.e. LE, Prod. Engineering, Operations, Fleet Support teams)
Manages daily team priorities to effectively utilize team resources
Communicates effectively with lead engineers, management and team members
Establishes clear RAA for lead engineers, foster and develop lead pipeline
Supports hiring of engineering team
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
3+ years of experience in Structures Engineering
3+ years of experience with design and analysis of metallic and composite materials
3+ years of experience with structural analysis methods and repair principles (e.g., fatigue and corrosion, stress analysis, statics, materials strength, material characteristics, repair techniques, damage tolerance methods used in maintenance programs)
Basic understanding of structural engineering fundamentals including airframe/component design and materials
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
3+ years of experience in the aerospace industry
1+ years of experience working within Boeing Commercial Airplanes factory or fleet support
Demonstrated ability in team building, coaching, and employee development to enhance team performance and engagement.
787 Airframe Experience
Experience with commercial aircraft certification processes and regulations

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary Pay Range: $137,700 - $186,300
